One of the challenges for decision-makers in insurance and finance is choosing the appropriate criteria for making decisions. Mathematical expectation, expected utility, and distorted expectation are the three most common measures in this area. In this article, we study these three criteria, and by providing some examples, we review and compare the decisions made by each measure.
the notion of a $d$-poset was introduced in a connection withquantum mechanical models. in this paper, we introduce theconditional expectation of random variables on thek^{o}pka's $d$-poset and prove the basic properties ofconditional expectation on this structure.
We extend a result of Dubins (1975) from bounded to unbounded random variables. Dubins (1975) showed that a finitely additive expectation over the collection of bounded random variables can be written as an integral of conditional expectations (disintegrability) if and only if the marginal expectation is always within the smallest closed interval containing the conditional expectations (conglom...
We extend a result of Dubins (Ann Probab 3:89–99, 1975) from bounded to unbounded random variables. Dubins showed that a finitely additive expectation over the collection of bounded random variables can be written as an integral of conditional expectations (disintegrability) if and only if the marginal expectation is always within the smallest closed interval containing the conditional expectat...
A -expectation tolerance interval procedure is derived from the concept of generalized pivotal quantity, which has been frequently used to obtain confidence intervals in situations where standard procedures do not lead to useful solutions. The proposed procedure can be applied to general balanced mixed linear models. Some practical examples are given to illustrate the proposed procedure. In add...
A novel way for addressing one-sided hypothesis tests for the mean of unable to observe real random variables from which we have information provided in terms of interval data is proposed. For this purpose, a measure of similarity between intervals is considered and the classical one-sided hypothesis test to check whether the similarity between the expectation of a random interval and a subset ...
Abstract We consider the application of a Fleischer–Jegerlehner-like treatment tadpoles to calculation neutral scalar masses (including Higgs) in general theories beyond Standard Model. This is especially useful when theory contains new scalars associated with small expectation value, but comes its own disadvantages. show that these can be overcome by combining effective field matching. provide...
The mental heartbeat tracking task by Schandry is sensitive to non-interoceptive (top-down) influences, e.g., estimation of heart rate and expectation. two studies reported here investigated the impact these factors on outcome task. In Study 1, performance-related expectation was assessed between training interval real trials. Performance strongly related (? = .595, p < .001) even after control...
