The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(6)H(16)NO(+)·C(10)H(4)ClN(4)O(7) (-)·0.5H(2)O, contains two cations, two anions and one water mol-ecule. In one independent anion, one nitro group is rotationally disordered over two orientations in a 0.657 (8):0.343 (8) ratio. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link all the components into ribbons extending along [100].

Background: Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, but it may induce kidney dysfunction. Clove oil (Oleum caryophylli) has antioxidant properties that may alleviate levofloxacin toxicity. This study aimed to examine the protective effect of clove oil on levofloxacin-induced nephrotoxicity in rat animal models. Methods: A total of 24 male ra...

The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(14)H(19)N(3)O(7)·0.5H(2)O, exhibits an E conformation about the C=N double bond. The water mol-ecule possesses crystallographically imposed twofold symmetry. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

In the title compound, C(14)H(17)N(3)O(2)·0.5H(2)O, the asymmetric unit consists of an N,N'-(phenyl-imino-dimethyl-ene)diprop-2-enamide mol-ecule and one half-mol-ecule of water, with the O atom of the latter having 2 site symmetry. The supra-molecular architecture is framed by the inter-play of two-dimensional networks of both O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O inter-actions supported by C-H⋯O and edge-to-face C...

Intracellular bacteria often cause relapsing and refractory infections. However, these infections can be treated effectively with antibiotics such as ofloxacin which penetrate into the cells containing bacteria. As levofloxacin, the levorotatory isomer of ofloxacin, has enhanced antibacterial activity, we tested the levofloxacin concentration in human monocytes and the effects of intracellular ...

Levofloxacin is one of the Fluroquinoline antibiotic groups, which affect on controlling infections, especially in reproductive organs. It has therapeutic use in numerous countries, but little information exists on the effects of Levofloxacin on spermatogenesis when it is used for infectious treatment. The current study was designed to determine whether Levofloxacin influences testis tissue and...

The mechanism of radiolabeled levofloxacin ([3H]levofloxacin) uptake by human polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) was investigated by a classical velocity centrifugation technique. PMNs were incubated with levofloxacin for 5 to 180 min under various conditions before centrifugation through an oil cushion. Radioactivity was measured in the cell pellet to determine the amount of cell-associated ...

The dehydration of gypsum CaSO4.2H20 has been studied, at negligible water vapour pressure, by in situ infrared (IR) spectroscopy and by thermogravimetry to determine whether intermediate phases (CaSO4.nH20) exist, other than the hemihydrate with n=0.5, and also to compare the mechanism of the dehydration process when measured by two techniques with very different correlation lengths. Thermogra...
