The new dinuclear copper(II) metallacyclophane with the non-innocent N,N'-1,4-bis(oxamate)-9,10-anthraquinone bridging ligand possesses a dual multielectron redox behavior featuring stepwise one-electron oxidation of the antiferromagnetically coupled Cu(II) ions and two-electron reduction of the anthraquinone spacers in a π-stacked anti conformation.

The X-ray absorption spectra have been measured near Kedge of a crystalline KOH. After the subtraction of XAFS oscillation, several features caused by multielectron transitions suggested on noble gases were detected on K in solid phase and analyzed by the use of the shakeup and shakeoff probabilities. The [ls2p], [ls3s], and [ls3p] transition onsets have been identified in the compound.

Many metalloenzymes exhibit distinctive spectral features that are now becoming well understood. These reflect active site electronic structures that can make significant contributions to catalysis. Copper proteins provide well-characterized examples in which the unusual electronic structures of their active sites contribute to rapid, long-range electron transfer reactivity, oxygen binding and ...

Halide ions (X(-)) as cheap and abundant electron donors are oxidized with simulated sunlight in a photocatalytic reaction based on robust antimony porphyrins acting as red-light harvesting multielectron transfer sensitizers. Besides halogen formation (X2/X3(-)) this solar energy storing process under certain conditions also accumulates hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as a second energy-rich compound.

The computation of dipole matrix elements plays an important role in the study of absorption or emission of radiation by atoms in several fields such as astrophysics or inertial confinement fusion. In this work we obtain closed formulas for the dipole matrix elements of multielectron ions suitable for using in the framework of a Relativistic Screened Hydrogenic Model.

Using carbon monoxide as a probe molecule for the oxidation state of Cu ions, we demonstrated that anchored polynuclear charge-transfer complexes consisting of Ce(III) ions and Cu(II)-substituted Keggin-type polyoxotungstates function as efficient visible-light-driven multielectron-transfer catalysts.

The effect of positive and negative pressure on the modes of oscillation of a multielectron bubble in liquid helium is calculated. Already at low pressures of the order of 10-100 mbar, these effects are found to significantly modify the frequencies of oscillation of the bubble. Stabilization of the bubble is shown to occur in the presence of a small negative pressure, which expands the bubble r...

Transition-metal complexes capable of mediating multielectron transformations are critical components for a variety of small-molecule transformations. For example, the oxidation of C H bonds and the reduction of protons to H2 are both two-electron transformations. The oxidation of water to O2 is a four-electron process and the reduction of nitrogen to ammonia is an overall six-electron process....
