An aluminum nanowire switches from superconducting to normal as the current is increased in an upsweep. The switching current (I(s)) averaged over upsweeps approximately follows the depairing critical current (I(c)) but falls below it. Fluctuations in I(s) exhibit three distinct regions of behaviors and are nonmonotonic in temperature: saturation well below the critical temperature T(c), an inc...

Uniquely in the world of materials, polymers deformed at high temperature and subsequently quenched at low temperature, memorize the temperature at which they have been processed. Polymers can even memorize multiple temperatures. This temperature memory is reflected by a maximum of residual stress restored at the temperature of initial processing. It has been speculated that this capability cou...

objective(s): hyperthermia is one of the most common environmental stressors that affect multi-biological systems in the body including the central nervous system as well as the hematopoietic organs. the objective of the present study was to investigate the protective role of ethanolic extract of propolis (eep) on some selective stress markers, hematological, biochemical, and histopathological ...

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a particular psychological stress, exposure to an open-field, on plasma IL-6 activity in rats. Plasma IL-6 activity was 40.6 +/- 7.2 units/ml in control rats, 105 +/- 6.8 units/ml after 30 minutes exposure to an open-field, and 221 +/- 17 units/ml after 60 minutes of exposure (p = 0.0003). There was a positive correlation (r = .71, p = 0...

Throughout the world, large numbers of manual workers perform physically demanding labour in conditions of high environmental heat stress. Although the importance of adequate hydration in combating heat stress is universally recognized, studies in a range of worker groups have demonstrated a disturbingly poor hydration level in a high proportion of at-risk workers. Management of work in hot env...

In order to investigate the effects of seed priming by plant growth regulators( salicylic acid, spermine and spermidine) on some physiological and biochemical characteristics of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus CV Basenti) under low temperature stress a completely randomized design was conducted at 2014. Experimental treatments include priming of okra seeds with 0.1 mM concentration of Salicylic Ac...

TAYLOR, C. RICHARD. Strategies of temperature regulation. ej’ect on evaporation in East African ungulates. Am. J. Phyisol. 2 19(4) : 1131-l 135.1970.-A number of African ungulates can survive in hot deserts without drinking. Two strategies of temperature regulation are used to reduce evaporation when water intake is restricted. The first is found in large animals, such as the eland (adults may ...

Selenium (Se) is an important microelement for plants and has been shown to improve growth under normal and stressed conditions. In this study, effect of Se and nano-selenium (N-Se) on hydroponically-grown tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill. cv. ‘Halil’) on photosynthesis, antioxidant activity and total polyphenolic content was assessed. A factorial experiment with three temperatu...

germination stage is an important stage of plant growth stage that often is affected by environmental stress including water and salinity stresses including drought and salinity. in order to study germination characteristics of scrophularia striatain water and salinity stress conditions at different temperatures an experiment was conducted. temperatures regimes included 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 an...
