Disambiguating named entities in naturallanguage text maps mentions of ambiguous names onto canonical entities like people or places, registered in a knowledge base such as DBpedia or YAGO. This paper presents a robust method for collective disambiguation, by harnessing context from knowledge bases and using a new form of coherence graph. It unifies prior approaches into a comprehensive framewo...

We extend the popular entity grid representation for local coherence modeling. The grid abstracts away information about the entities it models; we add discourse prominence, named entity type and coreference features to distinguish between important and unimportant entities. We improve the best result for WSJ document discrimination by 6%.

Recent research on entity linking (EL) has introduced a plethora of promising techniques, ranging from deep neural networks to joint inference. But despite numerous papers there is surprisingly little understanding of the state of the art in EL. We attack this confusion by analyzing differences between several versions of the EL problem and presenting a simple yet effective, modular, unsupervis...

Scalable Coherent Interface (SCI) is a bus de ned by an IEEE working group. The purpose of SCI is to be the interconnect in future shared memory multiprocessors. The SCI de nition, as proposed by the working group, speci es a cache coherence protocol. This speci cation is given in the C programming language. This report describes a layered approach to the speci cation of this cache coherence pr...

In natural language generation, different generation tasks often interact with each other in a complex way. We think that how to resolve the complex interactions inside and between tasks is more important to the generation of a coherent text than how to model each individual factor. This paper focuses on the interaction between aggregation and text planning, and tries to explore what preference...

Named entity recognition is a process in which the people’s names, name of places (cities, countries, seas, etc.) and organizations (public and private companies, international institutions, etc.), date, currency and percentages in a text are identified. Named entity recognition plays an important role in many NLP tasks such as semantic role labeling, question answering, summarization, machine ...

Discourse coherence is strongly associated with text quality, making it important to natural language generation and understanding. Yet existing models of coherence focus on measuring individual aspects of coherence (lexical overlap, rhetorical structure, entity centering) in narrow domains. In this paper, we describe domainindependent neural models of discourse coherence that are capable of me...
