abstract: chemical composition of lavandula angustifolia was studied by solvent free microwave extraction (sfme) and hydrodistillation (hd) methods. 1, 8-cineole (42.7% and 37.9%), camphor (26.1% and 21.3%) and borneol (31.2% and 21.6%) were the major compounds that obtained by sfme and hydrodistillation, respectively. the antibacterial activity of extracted oils was investigated against gram-p...

Background: Hydrodistillation is a current method to extract plant essential oils which is time consuming. It has been proposed that use of microwaves instead of direct heat could decrease the time of distillation. In this study, the effect of microwaves on chemical profile and antioxidant activity of Zatariam multiflora and Syzygium aromaticum essential oils in comparison to current hydrodisti...

The volatile oil obtained from the cones of Cupressus funebris by hydrodistillation was subjected to anti-inflammatory activity using carrageenan induced paw oedema model using albino mice, Diclofenac sodium was used as standard drug (25 mg/kg body weight, p.o.). The volatile oil (100 mg/kg body weight, p.o.) showed significant anti inflammatory activity.

Piper hispidinervum (C. DC.), Piperaceae, is a promising source of sassafras oil, the source of safrol, currently derived from endangered plants of the Lauraceae such as Ocotea pretios Ness (Mez.), Cinamomum petrophilum, C. mollissimum, and Sassafras albidum Nutt. The essential oil of P. hispidinervum contains high levels (83–93%) of safrole in leaves which can be easily extracted by hydrodisti...

Abstract Virgin olive oil processing results in a large amount of biomass (leaves, pomace, stones and wastewater) during harvesting, pruning production. In recent years, these by-products have been studied as possible sources bioactive compounds, several techniques developed, including microwave, ultrasound, subcritical extraction, high hydrostatic pressure, pulsed electric field, high-voltage ...

microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (mahd) at three levels of microwave power (180, 360, and 540 w) and the traditional hydrodistillation (hd) were applied to obtain essential oils from bunium persicum boiss. (black zira). mahd at 540 w started much earlier than that of hd (4 min vs. 38 min, respectively). by the time the extraction of essential oils started with hd, almost 50% of the total es...
