This chapter discusses the manifold ways in which the notion of ‘ecology’ and ‘learning ecology’ are adopted to interpret digitally-mediated educational contexts, to account for e-learning in higher education and to refer to emergent forms of networked environments and related le
Learning Capability, Organization Factors and Firm Performance
This paper is an exploratory study that examines the relationship between the learning capability of organizations and its potential impact on firm performance. Although it is implied in the literature that learning organizations are also high performing organizations, there has

Facilitating deep learning in an information systems course through application of curriculum design principles
This paper reports on the incremental improvement of assessment, learning and teaching activities in a large, first-year, undergraduate course. The changes, made over three years, resulted in the implementation of a student-centered (though individual) assessment strategy that in
Arithmetic Learning 1 Numerical Magnitude Representations Influence Arithmetic Learning
We examined whether the quality of first graders’ (mean age 7.2 years) numerical magnitude representations is correlated with, predictive of, and causally related to their arithmetic learning. The children’s pretest numerical magnitude representations were found to be correlated

Discrepancy and LD 3 IQ-Achievement Discrepancy in the Identification of Reading Disabilities: Conceptual, Measurement, and Policy Issues Historically, the field of learning disabilities could not be characterized as one that has been built on the strongest base of empirical supp
R-B Category Learning in PD 1 Characterizing Rule-Based Category Learning Deficits in Patients with Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and normal controls were tested in three category learning experiments to determine if previously observed rule-based category learning impairments in PD patients were due to deficits in selective attention or working memory. In Experiment 1, opt

goals into their corresponding sensory realization, without regard to the actions needed to achieve the goals. Envisioning involves deciding what it would \look like" or \feel like" to perform some task. This process presumably involves general deductive and inductive reasoning a
NSF-ITR/IM PROJECT: 2003 Abstracts From Bits to Information: Statistical Learning Technologies for Digital Information Management Search
The problem of text classification is to predict the labels of documents based on their content. When learning a classifier using training data, one must balance two aspects: (1) specificity to the training set, and (2) generalization to unseen data. A natural framework for this
Running head: DUAL LEARNING PROCESSES IN INTERACTIVE SKILL ACQUISITION Dual Learning Processes in Interactive Skill Acquisition
Acquisition of interactive skills involves the use of internal and external cues. Experiment 1 showed that when actions were interdependent, learning was effective with and without external cues in the single-task condition but was effective only with the presence of external cue
