A highly polydisperse granular gas is modeled by a continuous distribution of particle sizes, a , giving rise to a corresponding continuous temperature profile, T(a) , which we compute approximately, generalizing previous results for binary or multicomponent mixtures. If the system is driven, it evolves toward a stationary temperature profile, which is discussed for several driving mechanisms i...

In this paper we study the performance of the recently proposed Particle Swarm optimization method in the presence of noisy and continuously changing environments. Experimental results for well known and widely used optimization test functions are given and discussed. Conclusions for its ability to cope with such environments as well as real– life applications are also derived.

a prototype of a straw chopper, equipped with a discharge system was designed and fabricated in the department of mechanics of agricultural machinery, university of tehran, karaj, iran. to test for the effective performance of the machine, the effects of such parameters as: drum speed (at three levels of: 400, 540, and 800 rpm), screen size (at two levels: 2.5 and 4 cm), and number of blades on...

This work focuses on the size distribution of sneeze droplets exhaled immediately at mouth. Twenty healthy subjects participated in the experiment and 44 sneezes were measured by using a laser particle size analyser. Two types of distributions are observed: unimodal and bimodal. For each sneeze, the droplets exhaled at different time in the sneeze duration have the same distribution characteris...

The analysis of flow in water-distribution networks with several pumps by the Content Model may be turned into a non-convex optimization uncertain problem with multiple solutions. Newton-based methods such as GGA are not able to capture a global optimum in these situations. On the other hand, evolutionary methods designed to use the population of individuals may find a global solution even for ...

in the present study, five log-normal models, normal model (n), and two four- parameter models namely gompertz (g) and fredlund (fr) were tested on 71 psd data from 10 soil textural classes. the jaky (j) and fr models had the smallest and largest r2 values for all of the soils, respectively. the results of comparing the n and simple log-normal (sl) models showed that the accuracy of the n model...

In this article, multiple-product PVRP with pickup and delivery that is used widely in goods distribution or other service companies, especially by railways, was introduced. A mathematical formulation was provided for this problem. Each product had a set of vehicles which could carry the product and pickup and delivery could simultaneously occur. To solve the problem, two meta-heuristic methods...

One of the factors which are usually difficult to be measured in mills is the grindability and distribution of feed under real situation and in a short time. In the condition of achieving a fast and convenient way to determine these parameters, the proper relationship between energy, hardness and particle size distribution can be obtained. Feed hardness is one of the most important factors in g...
