The aim of the present work was to assess the feasibility of Acconon MC8-2 EP/NF as a bioadhesive material for developing controlled release gastroretentive microsponges of loratadine. Modified emulsion-solvent diffusion method was employed for the preparation of microsponges (F1-F9) based on  32 factorial design. The amount of ethyl cellulose (EC) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) were selected...

ABSTRACT It is known that there a close relationship between pellet feed size and fish growth. However, the magnitude of this regarding an animals’ efficiency not yet clear. Therefore, present study conducted at Virginia Tech - Seafood Agricultural Research Extension Center (USA), investigated effects three different sizes, 1.7mm (EP.1), 2.3 mm (EP.2) 3.1 (EP.3), on growth Cobia (Rachycentron c...

Background Cardiac rhythm devices (CRD) require complex management to identify potential device or patient issues. While easy to obtain, report processing is complex and time consuming. In our population, a majority of reports were performed outside of institutional protocols and no method for electrophysiology (EP) notification for unscheduled reports existed. These process breakdowns led to p...

Activin A as a predictor of pregnancy failure has been the focus of heated debate, but the value of a combined activin A and follistatin (FS) measurement in serum to predict pregnancy failure has not been reported yet. We assessed whether a single serum measurement of the two physiological antagonists at 6-8 weeks gestation could differentiate ectopic pregnancies (EP) or missed abortions (MA) f...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

The dependence of the fractal behaviors of the pomeron induced system in deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering upon the diffractive kinematic variables is found not to sensitive to the distinct parameterization of the pomeron flux factor and the structure function. A feasible experimental test of the phenomenological pomeron model in DESY ep collider HERA is proposed.

Purpose: Children and adolescents born extremely preterm (EP) have lower dynamic lung volumes and gas transfer capacity than subjects born at term. Most studies also report lower aerobic capacity. We hypothesized that ventilatory efficiency was poorer and that breathing patterns differed in EP-born compared to term-born individuals. Methods: Two area-based cohorts of participants born with gest...

The prostaglandin (PG) EP(4) receptor subtype is expressed by peripheral sensory neurons. Although a potential role of EP(4) receptor in pain has been suggested, a limited number of selective ligands have made it difficult to explore the physiological functions of EP(4) or its potential as a new analgesic target. Here, we describe the in vitro and in vivo pharmacology of a novel EP(4) receptor ...

BACKGROUND Among the prostanoids, thromboxane (TX) A(2) is a potent stimulator of platelets, whereas prostaglandin (PG) I(2) inhibits their activation. The roles of PGE(2) in the regulation of platelet function have not been established, however, and the contribution of PGE(2) in hemostasis and thromboembolism is poorly understood. The present study was intended to clarify these roles of PGE(2)...

Introduction. To compare the efficiency of Epley (Ep) and Sémont-Toupet (ST) repositioning maneuvers and to evaluate postmaneuver restriction effect on short-term vertigo and dizziness after repositioning maneuvers by an analog visual scale (VAS) in benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV).Material and Methods. 226 consecutive adult patients with posterior canal BPPV were included. Patients ...
