?-Hydroxy hydroperoxides (?-hydroperoxy alcohols) are interesting chemical platforms, notably for the preparation of 1,2,4-trioxanes, that key features numerous bioactive products such as artemisinin. In this review, main synthetic methods to prepare ?-hydroxy presented, photooxidation allylic alcohols with singlet oxygen and ring-opening epoxides H2O2. The applications also detailed, including...
A biphasic oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes and ketones using a simplified packed-bed microreactor
We demonstrate the preparation and characterization of a simplified packed-bed microreactor using an immobilized TEMPO catalyst shown to oxidize primary and secondary alcohols via the biphasic Anelli-Montanari protocol. Oxidations occurred in high yields with great stability over time. We observed that plugs of aqueous oxidant and organic alcohol entered the reactor as plugs but merged into an ...
A simple high-yielding method for the preparation of a tetramethylcyclopentadienyl-NHC ligand is described. This ligand has been successfully coordinated to Rh and Ir. A related Cp*-NHC ligand with a -CH(2)CMePh- linker between the Cp* and the NHC is also described, together with its coordination to Rh and Ir. This latter ligand, affords the orthocyclometallation of the phenyl ring yielding a c...
From the standpoint of enzymatic organic synthesis, NADH oxidase (NOX) will be a key enzyme that plays an essential role in the cofactor regeneration of NAD+ dependent enzymatic reactions. For example, enzymatic enantioselective oxidations of racemic secondary alcohols (Geueke et al., 2003; Riebel et al., 2003; Hummel & Riebel, 1996) and amino acids (Hummel et al., 2003a) have been reported as ...
Here we report the in situ generation of transient allylic boronic species, by reacting TMSCHN2 and E-vinyl boronic acids, followed by their subsequent trapping with aldehydes as electrophiles to yield homoallylic alcohols. This metal-free reaction was initially discovered by the use of a flow chemistry approach to generate a variety of homoallylic alcohols in a straightforward fashion and then...
N-protected LL-dipeptide alcohols 3a-p, diastereomeric mixture (3d + 3d') and tripeptide alcohols 6a-c were synthesized by treatment of various amino alcohols with N-protected(alpha-aminoacyl)benzotriazoles 1a-c, 1f-m, (1a + 1a') and N-protected(alpha-dipeptidoyl)benzotriazoles 5a, 5b respectively in good yields with complete retention of chirality.
the harmful use of alcohol inflicts great deal of social and economic losses on individuals and societies. given the increase in world population and the predicted increase in alcohol consumption, the alcohol related burden of disease progressively catches higher ranks in the list of factors threatening humans' life. it has been considered that the social and economic burden related to alcohol ...
A series of diamines and amino alcohols derived from 1-dodecanol, 1-tetradecanol, 1,2-dodecanediol and 1,2-tetradecanediol were synthesized and tested for their antitubercular activity. Compounds 3, 8 and 9 were found to be the most active (MIC of 6.25 microg/mL). Nine other compounds displayed activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with a MIC of 12.5 microg/mL.
abstract ion selective electrodes (ises) are electrochemical sensors that respond selectivity to the activity of ionic species. an ion-selective electrode is an electrochemical device that uses a thin selective membrane or film as the recognition element, and is an electrochemical half-cell equivalent to other half-cells of the zeroth (inert metal in a redox electrolyte). in common methods o...
