Background Mitral regurgitation(MR) is a common valvular disorder that foments left ventricular(LV) dysfunction. The study of LV twist during the progression of MR is limited to studies performed with ultrasound/echo(1-3) in human subjects or animal studies(4), which suggest that LV twist decreases when MR is present. LV circumferential-longitudinal shear angle (CL-shear angle) has been propose...

Background: Proper rotation of components in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) will largely affect the postoperative outcome. Ethnical variation may affect rotational profile. We aimed to evaluate distal femur rotation in Iranian population using transepicondylar axes.   Methods : From a total of 450 knee CT scans and via consecutive sampling, 150 qualified subjects with normal lower extremities ...

a one dimensional dynamic model for a riser reactor in a fluidized bed catalytic cracking unit (fccu) for gasoil feed has been developed in two distinct conditions, one for industrial fccu and another for fccu using various frequencies of microwave energy spaced at the height of the riser reactor (fccu-mw). in addition, in order to increase the accuracy of component and bulk diffusion, instanta...

We study the effect of twist on the electronic structure of H-terminated armchair graphene nanoribbons, for both relaxed and unrelaxed unit cell size. We investigate the band gap change as a function of the twist angle for different ribbon widths. In the case of unrelaxed unit cell size, the band gap closes for smaller twist angles as opposed to relaxed unit cell size. We calculate strain energ...

We present a systematic calculation of the charged current semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering process at leading order twist-3 level in parton model. consider general form negatively beam off polarized target which has spin-1. The calculations are carried out by applying collinear expansion where multiple gluon is taken into account and gauge links obtained automatically. first differen...

Abstract We point out a caveat in the proof for automatic O(a) improvement in twisted mass lattice QCD at maximal twist angle. With the definition for the twist angle previously given by Frezzotti and Rossi, automatic O(a) improvement can fail unless the quark mass satisfies mq ≫ aΛQCD. We propose a different definition for the twist angle which does not require a restriction on the quark mass ...

We study twist-three effects in deeply virtual Compton scattering on an unpolarized spin-1/2 target. A careful definition of observables as Fourier moments w.r.t. the azimuthal angle allows for a clear separation of twist-two and-three effects. Although the latter are power suppressed, they give leading contributions to the twist-three asymmetries and do not affect the twist-two observables.

Large twist-angle grain boundaries in layered structures are often described by Scherk's first surface whereas small twist-angle grain boundaries are usually described in terms of an array of screw dislocations. We show that there is no essential distinction between these two descriptions and that, in particular, their comparative energetics depends crucially on the core structure of their scre...

Background Left Ventricular (LV) twist, defined as the difference in rotation between the apex and the base, has recently been suggested as a diagnostic imaging biomarker for LV dysfunction [1]. Increasing age is associated with an increase in apical rotation, which leads to an increase LV twist [2-4]. Recently, it has been suggested that LV circumferential-longitudinal shear angle (CL-shear an...
