α-Fluoro-α-nitro esters were used as reaction partners in Michael addition to nitroalkenes, and the products were obtained in excellent chemical yields and with high enantioselectivities. Moreover, α-fluoro-α-amino ester with a quaternary α-carbon was prepared for the first time.
in order to reduce the costs associated with poly-β-hydroxybutyrate production, growth and poly-β-hydroxybutyrate production of ralstonia eutropha were studied in batch culture on different carbon sources. experiments were designed and conducted to not only lower the cost of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate production by using inexpensive substrates, but also to increase poly-β-hydroxybutyrate production...
The cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) Cl- channel has been identified in the cardiac muscle of a number of mammalian species, including humans. The goal of this study was to begin quantifying the structural requirements necessary for arylaminobenzoate block of the CFTR channel. The cardiac cAMP-dependent Cl- current (ICl) was measured using the whole-cell arrangement of...
Studies in freshwater ecosystems are seeking to improve understanding of carbon flow in food webs and stable isotopes have been influential in this work. However, variation in isotopic values of basal production sources could either be an asset or a hindrance depending on study objectives. We assessed the potential for basin geology and local limnological conditions to predict stable carbon and...
Refineries produce about four percent of the global carbon dioxide emissions, close to one billion tons per year. Globally, the refining sector is the third largest producer of carbon dioxide after the electricity generation and cement industry. This greenhouse gases is a major cause of global warming and climate change and is a serious threat to human health and the environment. One way to redu...
Abstract Background: Increase of nitrate concentration in water sources is becoming a serious problem in many parts of the world. Nitrogen containing compounds released into environment can create serious problems, such as eutrophication of water sources and hazard potential to human health, because it has potency of causing methemoglubinemia disease and cancer. Between recommended methods, bi...
Michael addition is one of the most important carbon–carbon bond formation reactions. In this study, an (R, R)-1,2-diphenylethylenediamine (DPEN)-based thiourea organocatalyst was applied to asymmetric nitroalkenes and cycloketones produce a chiral product. The primary amine moiety in DPEN reacts with ketone form enamine activated through hydrogen between nitro group ?, ?-unsaturated nitroalken...
In this paper we combine high level theoretical calculations (RI-MP2/def2-TZVP) with Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) analysis to demonstrate the importance of carbon bonding in cyclobutane rings. The higher ability of four-membered rings to interact with electron rich molecules is rationalized using several computational tools, including molecular electrostatic potential surfaces, energetic...
Different carbon sources, glycerol, sorbitol, acetate and lactate were added together with methanol in the induction phase of Pichia pastoris culture for angiostatin production in a 5-L fermentor. Mass balances were carried out for different processes, yield coefficients were discussed and stoichiometric coefficients were estimated to compare the efficiency of different carbon sources. Glycerol...
An active Pd/ZrCuOx catalyst was prepared for the reductive amination of CO2. The N-methylation of amines and nitro compounds with CO2/H2 can be realized with up to 97% yield under relatively mild reaction conditions. N-Formylation becomes the main reaction if the reaction was performed under milder conditions or using Pd/ZnZrOx as the catalyst.
