We extend the basic theory concerning the cycle space of a finite graph to infinite locally finite graphs, using as infinite cycles the homeomorphic images of the unit circle in the graph compactified by its ends. It turns out that the spanning trees allowing such a generalization are precisely the end-faithful spanning trees.

Background: Leishmaniasis is a zoonosis disease. About 350 million people are at risk of developing a disease, with 1.5 to 2 million new cases every year in the world. The aim of this study was to determine the space-time clusters of cutaneous leishmaniasis in north of Khuzestan Province, Iran. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the annual cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence per 100,000 ind...

Let [unk] be a finite family of finite subsets of the n-dimensional lattice Z(n), and let tau denote the group of all translations of Z(n). We shall here consider the Pompeiu problem for the family [unk]-namely, to determine when the only function f:Z(n) --> C such that [Formula: see text] is the zero function.

Metaheuristic algorithms have been widely used in determining the optimum rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs). By eliminating a number of unnecessary RPCs, these algorithms increase the accuracy of geometric correction of high-resolution satellite images. To this end, these algorithms use ordinary least squares and a number of ground control points (GCPs) to determine RPCs' values. Due to t...

Let us say that space is discrete if and only if every finite extended region of space is composed of finitely many atomic regions of space. I assume here that regions of space are individuals rather than sets of points, and have mereological structure; their parts are all and only their subregions. A region of space is an atomic region if and only if it has no proper parts, i.e., if and only i...

We address the formulation of a scale-space theory for discrete signals. In one dimension it is possible to characterize the smoothing transformations completely and a n exhaustive treatment is given, answering the following two main questions: 1) Which linear transformations remove structure in the sense that the number of local extrema (or zero-crossings) in the output signal does not exceed ...
