Presented method of on-line detection of overloads and short circuits in digital devices and systems is based on inexpensive overload detectors built into integrated circuits. A prototype 0.8 μm CMOS ASIC successfully verifies this method.

Learning object detectors requires massive amounts of labeled training samples from the specific data source of interest. This is impractical when dealing with many different sources (e.g., in camera networks), or constantly changing ones such as mobile cameras (e.g., in robotics or driving assistant systems). In this paper, we address the problem of self-learning detectors in an autonomous man...

in this investigation the effect of external field on the electron density of nanostructures of cds, cdse, cdte, gaas and polymeric structure of three, four, five and six units of cds as a kind of nanosolar cells has been studied theoretically. as modeling this system in nanodimension, molecular structures has used. specific properties of molecular structures permit us to consider different sym...

recent studies in scientific education as well as foreign and second language instruction suggest that thinking has rarely been an integral part of education and training in classroom. some scholars decried the lack of emphasis on thinking in the institutes and schools. they noted that memorization and drills were rewarded, while inquiry, reflection, and consideration of alternatives were frowne...

This paper presents a common framework for subband doubletalk detectors. Within this framework a number of lowcomplexity subband doubletalk detectors are evaluated in comparison with a corresponding fullband detector. The evaluation is performed by using real-data off-line calculations. The evaluation indicates that the subband approach significantly improves the performance.

We evaluate the ability of the BATSE spectroscopy detectors to detect the absorption lines observed by Ginga in gamma ray burst spectra. We find that BATSE can detect the 20.6 keV line in the S1 segment of GB870303 with a detection probability of ∼ 1/4 in nearly normally incident bursts, with the probability dropping off to nearly 0 at a burst angle of 50◦; the lines at 19.4 and 38.8 keV lines ...

Introduction Today, there is a growing interest in the use of hadrontherapy as an advanced radiotherapy technique. Hadrontherapy is considered a promising tool for cancer treatment, given its high radiobiological effectiveness and high accuracy of dose deposition due to the physical properties of hadrons. However, new radiation modalities of dose delivery and on-line beam monitoring play crucia...

Recent work demonstrated hardware-based online malware detection using only low-level features. This detector is envisioned as a first line of defense that prioritizes the application of more expensive and more accurate software detectors. Critical to such a framework is the detection performance of the hardware detector. In this paper, we explore the use of both specialized detectors and ensem...

A very high resolution positron emission tomography (PET) scanner for small animal imaging based on the idea of inserting a ring of high-granularity solid-state detectors into a conventional PET scanner is under investigation. A particularly interesting configuration of this concept, which takes the form of a degenerate Compton camera, is shown capable of providing sub-millimeter resolution wit...
