results a significant decrease in apoptotic cells and increase in proliferative reaction were observed in the i/r + hbo group compared to the i/r group. conclusions we demonstrated that hbo suppressed apoptosis, which caused inflammation after renal i/r, and promoted tubular cell regeneration. hbo has protective effects against aki caused by renal i/r through the inhibition of apoptosis. materi...

seaweeds have caused an emerging interest in the biomedical area, mainly due to their contents of bioactive substances which show great potential as anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-tumoral drugs. despite the diversity in quality and quantity of the mediterranean tunisian coast flora, with its large contains of marine organisms and seaweeds, most of them have not yet been ...

objective(s):fumonisins are a group of toxic and carcinogenic mycotoxins, which contaminate the grains and their products. the aim of this study was to examine the apoptotic and proliferative activity of mouse gastric mucosa following administration of fumonisin b1 (fb1).    materials and methods: twenty-nine female mice divided into treatment (n=15) and control (n=14) groups. the treatment gro...

Introduction: Proliferation of cancer cells and the potential of metastasis depend on the activity of different biomarkers such as proliferative ones. Proliferative biomarkers including ki-67, cyclin E1, cyclin D1, p27, and p21 were analyzed through immunohistochemistry (IHC) in previous studies. Methods: The current study aimed at investigating the utilizing role of RT-PCR in studying prolife...

BACKGROUND Phenotypic modulation or switching of vascular smooth muscle cells from a contractile/quiescent to a proliferative/synthetic phenotype plays a key role in vascular proliferative disorders such as atherosclerosis and restenosis. Although several calcium handling proteins that control differentiation of smooth muscle cells have been identified, the role of protein phosphatase inhibitor...

The increased risk of cancer in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus substantiates the relevance scientific researches on mechanisms association these diseases. It was found that pathogenetic factors cause disorders at level signaling pathways control processes intracellular metabolism and survival. Obesity significantly increases risk. procarcinogenic effect obesity is due to a combination m...

The authors present an uncommon case of systemic amyloidosis associated with multiple myeloma in a 35-year old woman. Systemic amyloidosis commonly presents in association with clonal plasma cell proliferative disorders, and less frequently as secondary or of a hereditary origin. Amyloidosis is usually associated with multiple myeloma in older patients and frequently has an unfavourable prognosis.

We present a case of plasmacytoid lymphocytic leukemia with hairy-cell-like cytoplasmic projections and separate monomeric and polymeric IgA(lambda) serum bands confirmed by immunofixation. After a prolonged initial good response to chemotherapy, the patient had recurrent disease with increased plasmacytoid blastic feature and died. The relationship of this case to B-cell proliferative disorder...

OBJECTIVE Insulin resistance may be a risk factor for diabetic microangiopathy, which may have a familial component. We carried out a family-based study to determine which components of the insulin resistance syndrome are associated with diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy in type 1 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS The Genesis France-Belgium Study is a multicenter binational study desig...

Regenerative processes are critical to maintain tissue homeostasis in high-turnover tissues. At the same time, proliferation of stem and progenitor cells has to be carefully controlled to prevent hyper-proliferative diseases. Mechanisms that ensure this balance, thus promoting proliferative homeostasis, are expected to be critical for longevity in metazoans. The intestinal epithelium of Drosoph...
