BACKGROUND In patients with atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia, modifications of the antegrade atrioventricular nodal function curve caused by catheter ablation of the so-called slow pathway are heterogeneous, but have not yet been systematically evaluated. AIM To test the hypothesis that successful treatment is independent of specific electrophysiological modifications of atrioven...

OBJECTIVE To compare the outcome of cryothermal and radiofrequency energy transcatheter ablation of atrioventricular junctional re-entrant tachycardia in children and adolescents. DESIGN Case series with internal comparison. SETTING Two hospitals in Hong Kong. PATIENTS Consecutive transcatheter ablation procedures for atrioventricular junctional re-entrant tachycardia in children and adol...

The computational analysis of partial sheet hydrofoil cavitation in two dimensions is performed. Particular attention is given to the method of simulating the flow at the end of the cavity. A fixed-length partially cavitating panel method is used to predict the height of the re-entrant jet, using the values of the cavitation number and the drag coefficient. The jet surface is subsequently const...

High-volume, multistage continuous production flow through a re-entrant factory is modeled through a conservation law for a continuous-density variable on a continuous-production line augmented by a state equation for the speed of the production along the production line. The resulting nonlinear, nonlocal hyperbolic conservation law allows fast and accurate simulations. Little’s law is built in...

We are interested in object-oriented programming methodologies that enable static verification of object-invariants. Reasoning soundly and effectively about the consistency of objects is still one of the main stumbling blocks to pushing object-oriented program verification into the mainstream. More precisely, any sound methodology must be able to guarantee that the invariant of the receiver obj...

In this study, we consider the production environment of no-wait reentrant flow shop with the objective of minimizing makespan of the jobs. In a reentrant flow shop, at least one job should visit at least one of the machines more than once. In a no-wait flowshop scheduling problem, when the process of a specific job begins on the first machine, it should constantly be processed without waiting ...

Chronic atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with structural and electrical remodelling in the atria, which are associated with a high recurrence of AF. Through biophysically detailed computer modelling, this study investigated mechanisms by which AF-induced electrical remodelling promotes and perpetuates AF. A family of Courtemanche-Ramirez-Nattel variant models of human atrial cell action p...

OBJECTIVES We investigated the hypothesis that re-entrant pulmonary vein (PV) tachycardias may serve as a mechanism for initiating and sustaining paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). BACKGROUND The mechanisms of rapid repetitive discharges from the PV initiating PAF remain incompletely understood. Pulmonary vein myocardial sleeves appear to provide a favorable substrate for re-entry formatio...

The assumption of classical shop scheduling problems that each job visits each machine only once (Baker, 1974) is often violated in practice. A new type of manufacturing shop, the reentrant shop has recently attracted attention. The basic characteristic of a re-entrant shop is that a job visits certain machines more than once. For example, in semiconductor manufacturing, consequently, each wafe...

This paper is concerned with workload minimization in re-entrant lines with exponential service times and preemptive control policies. Using a numerical algorithm called the power series algorithm we obtain nearly optimal policies for systems with up to 8 queues. We also improve considerably the implementation of the power series algorithm.
