Purpose: Since information storage and retrieval is among fundamental tasks of libraries and information dissemination centers, finding proper software in this field is of high significance. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate web-based librarianship software Pars azarakhsh, Nosa, and Namayeh in information retrieval. Methodology: The present study is an applied one. Its methodolog...

A great deal of experimental investment is directed towards questions regarding the mechanisms of memory storage. Such studies have traditionally been restricted to investigation of the anatomical structures, physiological processes, and molecular pathways necessary for the capacity of memory storage, and have avoided the question of how individual memories are stored in the brain. Memory engra...

The paper is addressed to those concerned with improving effectiveness of small or large libraries, or those considering the establishment "of a new collection in a certain subject area." The large staffing and cost frequently discourages the setting of satisfactory services. The paper submits for consideration an avenue of using automatic aids to achieve effectiveness within the bounds of econ...

In his well-known Information Dispersal Algorithm paper, Rabin showed a way to distribute information in n pieces among n servers in such a way that recovery of the information is possible in the presence of up to t inactive servers. An enhanced mechanism to enable construction in the presence of malicious faults, which can intentionally modify their pieces of the information, was later present...

Ontologies are often used to improve data access. For this purpose, existing data has to be linked to an ontology and appropriate access mechanisms have to be provided. In this chapter, we review RDF storage and retrieval technologies as a common approach for accessing ontology-based data. We discuss different storage models, typical functionalities of RDF middleware such as data model support ...

Random redundant data storage strategies have proven to be a good choice for efficient data storage in multimedia servers. These strategies lead to a retrieval problem in which it is decided for each requested data block which disk to use for its retrieval. In this paper, we give a complexity classification of retrieval problems for random redundant storage.
