BACKGROUND Cavernomas are benign lesions that most commonly occur intra-parenchymally, but occasionally they have been described as arising from the dura mater. Extra-axial cavernous angiomas (or hemangiomas) account for 0.4-2% of all intracranial vascular malformations, and they usually occur in the middle cranial fossa, associated with the cavernous sinus. Other possible localizations (e.g. t...

We describe here the case of a 16-year-old boy successfully treated at our hospital for intramuscular cavernous hemangioma in the left soleus muscle. The patient was diagnosed using magnetic resonance imaging and open biopsy after attempted/failed surgery at another institution. We performed lower leg phlebography in order to identify all the feeding and draining veins of the cavernous hemangio...

this is an original study on the effect of a polyisobutylene – polydimethylsiloxane (pibpdms) block copolymer modifier used as an interfacial active agent on the dynamics behaviour of single newtonian drops suspended in a polyisobutylene (pib) newtonian matrix. the results were divided in two sections. the first part included the experiments carried out on the non-modified and 2% block cop...

We report a case of cavernous hemangioma originating in the maxillary sinus. This is an unusual location for hemangioma, and this case also had a rare presentation involving bone erosion. The substantial bone destruction and resultant widening of the right ostiomeatal complex made it difficult to differentiate this cavernous hemangioma from malignant epithelial tumors.

Capillary hemangioma (capillary lobular hemangioma) and cavernous hemangioma (venous malformation) are relatively common oral tumors/malformations and are characterized by increased numbers of normal and abnormal blood vessels. However, the causes of these lesions are not well understood. CD105 (endoglin) is predominantly expressed in proliferating blood endothelial cells (ECs). We analyzed exp...

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...

Hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors and they can occur quite commonly in the head and neck region [1-3]. Lobular capillary hemangioma (formerly named Pyogenic Granuloma) is a rare subtype that can be encountered in the skin and mucous membranes [4]. In the English literature, most reports include lesions of the oral cavity, face and nasal cavities. Although the relationship with female sex h...

hemangiomas are considered as vascular malformations which are categorized by the type of vascular channel to capillary, cavernous, venous or arteriovenous(1). their usual locations are soft tissue , cutaneous or subcutaneous tissue and bone especially vertebra(2).however, intradural extramedullary hemangiomas are rare and most of them fall in cavernous type category. hereby, authors report a w...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS In pediatric patients with congenital malformations of the inner ear, anomalies within the anatomy may facilitate unintentional insertion of the cochlear implant electrode into the internal auditory canal. Revision procedures for removal and replacement of cochlear implant electrodes following internal auditory canal insertion are fraught with potential danger, including t...
