Floods are important disturbances to urban socio-eco-technical systems and their meteorological drivers projected increase through the century due global climate change. Urban flood models numerical that have capability of representing features ecosystems mechanisms flooding impact them. They potential play a critical role in risk assessment, operational response, resilience planning, but exist...

In this work we construct a software model for the multilayer perceptron neural network. The whole process is carried out in the Unified Modeling Language (UML), which provides a formal framework for the modeling of software systems. The final implementation, called Flood, has been written in the C++ Programming Language and placed under the GNU Lesser General Public License.

The main goal of this paper is to propose a new practical method for hydrologic soil group estimation in surface runoff process based on geomorphology facieses and slop. The determination of CN based on this method can reduce the time and cost of project. In this research the upstream rivers of Glinak Watershed have been used as a case study to examine the efficiency of proposed method with a c...

Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry (ALB) has been rapidly evolving in recent years and now allows fluvial topography to be mapped in high resolution (>20 points/m) and height accuracy (<10 cm) for both the aquatic and the riparian area. This article presents methods for enhanced modeling and monitoring of instream mesoand microhabitats based on multitemporal data acquisition. This is demonstrated for a ...

Floods are among the natural disasters that cause human hardship and economic loss. Establishing a viable flood forecasting and warning system for communities at risk can mitigate these adverse effects. However, establishing an accurate flood forecasting system is still challenging due to the lack of knowledge about the effective variables in forecasting. The present study has indicated that th...

8 Floods are frequent and widespread in Italy and pose a severe risk for the population. Local administrations commonly use flow propagation models to delineate the flood prone areas. These modeling approaches require a detail geo-environmental data knowledge, intensive calculation and long computational times. Conversely, statistical methods can be used to asses flood hazard over large areas, ...

In this paper the development of a single set of design parameters of the sizing of the tidally affected detention pond system was analyzed and tested. The approach uses critical duration single storm event of specified return period, together with a single harmonic tide. The design flood level is then the aggregate of the levels obtained using the system model with the four phase lags between ...
