In [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 27 (1988) 385-389], M. Grabiec in- troduced a notion of completeness for fuzzy metric spaces (in the sense of Kramosil and Michalek) that successfully used to obtain a fuzzy version of Ba- nachs contraction principle. According to the classical case, one can expect that a compact fuzzy metric space be complete in Grabiecs sense. We show here that this is not the case,...
in this article we review an algebraic definition of the gyrogroup and a simplified version of the gyrovector space with two fundamental examples on the open ball of finite-dimensional euclidean space, which are the einstein and möbius gyrovector spaces. we introduce the structure of gyrovector space and the gyroline on the open convex cone of positive definite matrices and see its interest...
Are there any science books that you recommend? Yes, several. Shadows of Reality, by Tony Robbin (Yale University Press) is a beautiful book that addresses the problem of illustrating high-dimensional entities. The issue is central to the sorts of things we deal with in science today, especially so in my field. How do we think and make sense of abstract spaces? This book is a great introduction...
Undoubtedly having lush and interesting plants in the aquarium, in addition to beauty, has a favorable effect on fish. These plants, in addition to create beauty in the aquarium space, provide an environment close to the natural habitat of ornamental fish. The benefits of using aquatic plants in the aquarium include adjusting the water hardness and pH, increasing the dissolved oxygen in the wat...
In this paper, we establish the existence of common coupled fixed point results for new Caristi type contraction of three covariant mappings in Bipolar metric spaces. Some interesting consequences of our results are achieved. Moreover, we give an illustration which presents the applicability of the achieved results.
One fundamental theorem in the theory of holomorphic dynamics is Thurston’s topological characterization of postcritically finite rational maps. Its proof is a beautiful application of Teichmüller theory. In this chapter we provide a self-contained proof of a slightly generalized version of Thurston’s theorem (the marked Thurston’s theorem). We also mention some applications and related results...
English speech lacks the acoustic analog of blank spaces that people are accustomed to seeing between words in written text. Discovering words in continuous spoken speech then is an interesting problem that has been treated at length in the literature. The issue is particularly prominent in the parsing of written text in languages that do not explicitly include spaces between words, and in the ...
These lectures, given at the Chinese Academy of Sciences for the BeiJing/HangZhou International Summer School in Mathematical Physics, are intended to introduce, to the beginning student in string theory and mathematical physics, aspects of the rich and beautiful subject of D-brane gauge theories constructed from local Calabi-Yau spaces. Topics such as orbifolds, toric singularities, del Pezzo ...
We give some extensions of the beautiful 1968 fixed point theorem Maia [Maia, M. G. Un’osservazione sulle contrazioni metriche. (Italian) Rend. Sem. Mat. Univ. Padova 40 (1968), 139–143] to three classes enriched contractive mappings in Banach spaces: contractions, Kannan contractions and Ćirić-Reich-Rus contractions.
In this paper we present some interesting results involving summation of series in particular trigonometric ones. We failed to locate these results in existing literature or in the web like MathWorld (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/) nor could we derive them using software for analytical computation like Maple. The identities are beautiful and involve finite series.
