CONTEXT Intussusception in adults is rare, accounting for 0.1% of adult hospital admissions. In contrast to this, it is the leading cause of obstruction in children. In up to 90% of adults a cause can usually be found, but in children this is rarely the case. CASE REPORT We report the case of a 27-year-old lady with a subacute bowel obstruction caused by a jejunal heterotopic pancreas and des...
In this article, we report a case of two synchronous ileal adenomyomas leading to intussusception. This rare occurrence has never been reported in the literature. Our case is noteworthy, because the lesion is rare and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of intussusception in adults.
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease that can affect multiple organ systems, including the gastrointestinal tract. Intussusception, the telescoping of the bowel that can lead to intestinal obstruction, is an uncommon phenomenon in adults. We report the first case of sigmoid intussusception in a patient with scleroderma.
Background: Intussusception is a frequent cause of bowel obstruction in children but is rare in adults. In about 90% of cases, adult intussusception has identifiable cause acting as the lead point. A lipoma may develop as a benign tumor in any organ but rarely in large or small intestines. Intussusception due to a gastrointestinal lipoma constitutes an infrequent clinical entity. We present a c...

However, the first surgical treatment for this condition in...

Adult cases account for only 5% [1] of all gastrointestinal intussusception cases and are commonly attributed to the formation of a small bowel lipoma. Adult intussusception is a very rare occurrence with some estima...
Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) are rare in paediatric patients and have a discrete clinicopathological and molecular divergence from that observed in adults. In the present report we present a case of a 2-month-old female in whom colonic gastrointestinal stromal tumour acted as a lead point of colocolic intussusception. Laparoscopically assisted reduction of the intussusception and res...

We report a case of small bowel intussusception in an adult male patient. We have also performed a literature review of this rare condition.
