Many of the systems in process and aerospace industry can be modeled as a three tank system. LMI and NLMI based controller design methods have been applied to three tank system in literature. Nonlinear methods suffer from lack of ease for implementation, on the other hand, LMI based methods have to be unduly robust to cater for significant uncertainties arising from linearization around an equi...

This paper introduces to constructing problems of convex relaxations for nonconvex polynomial optimization problems. Branch-and-bound algorithms are convex relaxation based. The convex envelopes are of primary importance since they represent the uniformly best convex underestimators for nonconvex polynomials over some region. The reformulationlinearization technique (RLT) generates LP (linear p...

In this paper, we investigate the delay-dependent robust stability of fuzzy Cohen-Grossberg neural networks with Markovian jumping parameter and mixed time varying delays by delay decomposition method. A new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) is constructed by nonuniformly dividing discrete delay interval into multiple subinterval, and choosing proper functionals with different weighting matr...

This paper introduces a new hierarchy for controlling dynamical systems. The new control hierarchy uses supervised neural network to identify certain parameters of the transformed system matrix [ A ]. Then, Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) is used to determine the permutation matrix [P] so that a complete system transformation {[ B~ ], [ C ], [ D~ ]} is performed. The transformed model is then re...

Our large-scale computational model of the primary visual cortex that incorporates orientation-specific, long-range couplings with slow NMDA conductances operates in a fluctuating dynamic state of intermittent desuppression (IDS), which captures the behavior of coherent spontaneous cortical activity, as revealed by in vivo optical imaging based on voltage-sensitive dyes. Here, we address the fu...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE A comparison between long-term sensory sequelae of lateral medullary infarction (LMI) and medial medullary infarction (MMI) has never been made. METHODS We studied 55 patients with medullary infarction (41 with LMI and 14 with MMI) who were followed up for >6 months. We examined and interviewed the patients with the use of a structured format regarding the most importan...

Method LMI created a questionnaire to cover the five building blocks of workforce development: engaged stakeholders, optimise policies and plans, workforce development, increase performance, professionalization of SCM (USAID|DELIVER 2013). In collaboration with PtD, we then contacted potential case study participants and, when agreed, conducted an interview using the structured questionnaire. L...

The guaranteed cost-control problem for uncertain linear systems which have delay in both state and control input is considered. Sufficient conditions for the existence of guaranteed cost controllers are given in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI). It is shown that the state feedback controllers can be obtained by solving the LMI.

This paper is concerned with the design of gain-scheduled controllers for Linear Parameter-Varying systems. Two alternative LMI characterizations are investigated. Both characterizations are amenable to a nite number of LMI conditions either via a gridding of the parameter range or via grid-free techniques which rely on multi-convexity concepts. Practicality and implementation issues are discus...

We introduce a novel imaging technique called light field moment imaging (LMI) that uses the continuity equation to extract the first angular moments of a light field. We use these moments to construct perspective views of a scene. Examples of LMI in photography and microscopy are presented.
