Effect of scale on the hydrodynamics of gas-solid fluidized beds was investigated in two fluidized beds of 152 mm and 78 mm in diameter.  Air at room temperature was used as the fluidizing gas in the bed of sand particles. The Radioactive Particle Tracking (RPT) technique was employed to obtain the instantaneous positions of the particles at every 20 ms of the experiments. These data were u...

Using functional techniques, we prove, to all orders of perturbation theory, that lattice vector gauge theories with Ginsparg Wilson fermions are renormalizable. For two or more massless fermions, they satisfy a flavour mixing axial vector Ward identity. It involves a lattice specific part that is quadratic in the vertex functional and classically irrelevant. We show that it stays irrelevant un...

Present descriptions of nitric oxide (NO) transport in the lungs use two compartment models: airway compartment without mixing and alveolar compartment with perfect mixing. These models neglect NO molecular diffusion in the airways. To assess the impact of axial diffusion on expired NO profile, we solved a transport equation that incorporated diffusion, convection, and NO sources in the symmetr...

We use a " hybrid " method, mixing variationally-determined triaxial nuclear Slater determinants, to calculate the response of 73 Ge to hypothetical dark-matter particles such as neutralinos. The method is a hybrid in that rota-tional invariance is approximately restored prior to variation and then fully restored before the mixing of intrinsic states. We discuss such features of 73 Ge as shape ...

In a nonrelativistic constituent quark model we find a constraint on the mixing angle of the strange axial-vector mesons, 35 < ∼ θK < ∼ 55, determined solely by two parameters: the mass difference of the a1 and b1 mesons and the ratio of the constituent quark masses.

We present a calculation of the perturbative matching coefficients including mixing with higher dimensional operators for the temporal component of the heavy-light axial current, A4, and the ∆B = 2 operator, OS. For A static, NRQCD 4 , calculations with various RG-improved gauge actions are peformed. Matching coefficients with NRQCD and heavy-clover actions are also compared.

High-accuracy CFD results for laminar flow in a stirred tank agitated by three Rushton turbines are used as a starting point for an in-depth analysis of mixing. Asymptotic mixing performance is in®estigated as a function of the Reynolds number by means of Poincare sections, which re®eal large segregated regions with sizes and shapes that ®ary ́ greatly o®er a relati®ely small range of Reynolds n...

In this paper, we extend the MURM (Modified Universe Reaction Model) of a CSTR to a tubular reactor with axial dispersion. Furthermore, we use this mixing model to study the effort of the micromixing on the steady state multiplicity for an autocatalytical reaction of tubular reactor.

Flavor singlet and non-singlet axial Ward identities are investigated using the Wilson formulation of lattice QCD with Clover O(a)-improvement, which breaks explicitly chiral symmetry. The matching at one-loop order of all the relevant renormalization constants with the continuum MS scheme is presented. Our calculations include: 1) the contributions arising from the Clover term of the action; 2...
