We have succeeded in synthesizing vertically aligned doubled-walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) forests with heights of up to 2.2 mm by water-assisted chemical vapour deposition (CVD). We achieved 85% selectivity of DWNTs through a semi-empirical analysis of the relationships between the tube type and mean diameter and between the mean diameter and the film thickness of sputtered Fe, which was used ...

The world’s rapidly dwindling crude oil supplies, their rising cost and the rapid growing of automobile pollutions from fossil fuels have led to an intensive search for alternative fuels. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance and control the exhaust emissions from two-stroke, single cylinder, spark ignition (SI) engine, with alcohol blended gasoline (80% gasoline and 20% ethano...

Silicon nanowires have been grown with gallium as catalyst by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The morphology and crystalline structure has been studied by electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy as a function of growth temperature and catalyst thickness. We observe that the crystalline quality of the wires increases with the temperature at which they have been synthesized. The cry...

Frequently the activity of fresh catalyst changes with time in use. The decrease or increases of the catalyst activity with time during the course of reaction forces the system to an unsteady state operation ([1], [2], [3], [4] and [5]). One of these catalysts is the copper/zinc oxide catalyst, which is industrially used for methanol production. The activity of copper/zinc oxide catalyst declin...

SiO2-supported silyl chromate catalyst is an important industrial catalyst for production of high grade HDPE pipe materials. The control of the short chain branch (SCB) distribution using this catalyst system is still a great challenge. In this work, ethylene and 1-hexene copolymers were synthesized using SiO2-supported silyl chromate catalyst combined with triisobutylaluminium (TIBA), triethyl...

Co-sputtered Pd0.7Au0.3 catalyst and alternate sputtered Pd0.35Au0.3Pd0.35 and Au0.15Pd0.7Au0.15 materials were prepared by plasma deposition of Au and Pd atoms on a carbon diffusion layer. Atomic composition and metal loadings were evaluated from EDX and RBS, respectively. The low amount of deposited and of the resulting low metallic film thickness made TEM and XRD characterizations difficult ...

Hydrogenation of benzoic acid using monoand bimetallic catalyst of Ru, Pd, Co, and Re yielded different products. It was observed that 5% Ru/C was an active catalyst for hydrogenation of both aromatic ring and carboxylic group, while Pd/C catalyst hydrogenated only aromatic ring. Ru-Sn/Al2O3 is a chemoselective catalyst for hydrogenation of –COOH group of benzoic acid.

Ni/Al2O3, Co/Al2O3 and bimetallic Ni(Co)/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared using an impregnation method and employed in CO2 dry reforming of methane under coking-favored conditions. The spent catalysts were carefully characterized using typical characterization technologies and inelastic neutron scattering spectroscopy. The bimetallic catalyst exhibited a superior activity and anti-coking performan...

Using wet impregnation method, a novel ternary system of silica supported Fe-Co-Ce catalyst was prepared. Preparation conditions such as impregnation time and temperature, drying time and temperature, were optimized by the L9 Taguchi experimental design to achieve a light olefin selective catalyst with maximum CO conversion in a fixed bed micro-reactor. It was found that the best conditions to ...
