Historically important in the development of Standard Model (SM) particle physics, rare kaon decays are still a privileged tool for looking beyond it. The main reasons to continue study test CKM quark-mixing and CP-violation paradigm, make quantitative comparisons with B sector, search explicit violations SM. Current research on focuses mostly [Formula: see text] decays, which predicted good ac...

Kaon production and kaon flow in heavy-ion collisions at SIS energies are analyzed using the relativistic transport model. The experimental data are found to be consistent with the scenario that kaon scalar (before being cut down by the range term) and vector mean field potentials are about 1/3 of that of nucleons in the Walecka model. This also explains the strong attraction found for K− in ka...

We investigate the information which could be obtained from Drell-Yan processes with sufficiently intense beams of charged kaons on isoscalar targets. It is found that combinations of K and K− Drell-Yan measurements on isoscalar nuclear targets would allow one to extract the kaon sea quark distributions. These cross sections are also sensitive to the strange valence quark distribution in the ka...

As part of a broader study of kaon photoproduction on deuterium, the γn → K + Σ − channel was investigated. The data were acquired at Jefferson Lab using the CLAS detector and the Photon-Tagging Facility installed in Hall B. The photon energy range covered was from 0.50 to 2.95 GeV. For the present analysis, the γn → K + Σ − channel was identified by detecting the positive kaon in coincidence w...

In the linear chiral perturbation theory, both kaon and antikaon masses decrease in dense matter. There is also a repulsive vector potential for the kaon and an attractive one for the antikaon. With these eÃects included in the relativistic transport model, it is found that the slope parameter of the kaon kinetic energy distribution is larger than that of the antikaon. This is consistent with t...

Relativistic nuclear collisions can produce matter in which chiral symmetry is restored. One possible consequence of this restoration is the formation of disoriented chiral condensates (DCC) – transient regions in which the average chiral order parameter differs from its value in the surrounding vacuum. Previous efforts to describe DCC signals have focused on pion production. In Ref. [1], Gavin...

Pion and kaon dissociation in a medium of hot quark matter is studied in the Nambu Jona-Lasinio model. The decay width of pion and kaon are found to be large but finite at temperatures much higher than the so called critical temperature of chiral or deconfinement transition, kaon decay width being larger. Consequently, pions and even kaons (with a lower density compared to pions) should coexist...

The nonlocal property of quantum mechanics can be nicely tested in high energy physics; in particular, the neutral kaon pairs as produced at DAΦNE, Frascati, are very well suited. The analogies of kaons as compared to polarized photons or spin– 1 2 particles —the kaonic qubit feature— are reviewed. However, there are also fundamental differences which occur due to the kaon time evolution and du...

Using the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model we study responses of the pion and kaon masses to changes in the chemical potential, ∂m ∂μ , at zero and finite chemical potential. We find that the behavior of ∂m ∂μ for the pion is quite different from that for the kaon. Our results can give a clue for future studies of ∂m ∂μ on the lattice.
