PURPOSE To assess the identification accuracy of dynamic assessment (DA) of narrative ability in English for children learning English as a 2nd language. METHOD A DA task was administered to 54 children: 18 Spanish-English-speaking children with language impairment (LI); 18 age-, sex-, IQ- and language experience-matched typical control children; and an additional 18 age- and language experie...

The dopaminergic system is essential for cognitive processes, including reward, attention and motor control. In addition to DA release and availability of synaptic DA receptors, timing and magnitude of DA neurotransmission depend on extracellular DA-level regulation by the dopamine transporter (DAT), the membrane expression and trafficking of which are highly dynamic. Data presented here from r...

This mixed-methods design study investigated Iranian TOEFL iBT and IELTS teachers’ views on thestructure of the TOEFL iBT and IELTS receptive and productive sections from the yardsticks of dynamic and static assessment. It also examined the conformity level of the receptive and productive sections of TOEFL iBT and IELTS to dynamic assessment and static assessment standards. To achieve the objec...

We describe artificial DNA molecules exclusively consisting of four types of alkynyl C-nucleotides with nonnatural bases. The artificial DNA exhibited almost the same characteristics as natural DNA, such as in regard to the stepwise duplex and triplex formation and the right-handed higher-order structure with an antiparallel alignment fashion.

The primary objective of this research study was to investigate the perceived effects of feeding back the results of dynamic assessment to the child verbally and through the medium of video. Fourteen children, aged 6 – 11 years, and their class teachers were involved in the research. The children and teachers were interviewed prior to the DA session, and then again approximately 6 weeks after a...

The putamen of the human striatum is a heterogeneous nucleus that contains the primary site of loss of dopamine (DA) in Parkinson's disease (PD). Furthermore, different functional domains of the putamen are heterogeneously susceptible to DA loss, and yet the dynamic regulation of extracellular DA concentration ([DA](o)) and comparison between domains has not been explored in the primate brain. ...

The present study aimed to capture and represent the mediator-learner’s interaction in the development of listening proficiency and statistically compare this interaction between high and low proficient English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. Thirty EFL learners participated in Oxford Quick Placemat Test (OQPT) and the Interactions/Mosaic Listening Placement (IMLP) Test to select those wh...

Dopamine (DA) is one of the most important catecholamine neurotransmitter molecules in the central nervous system (CNS). An abnormal level of DA in vivo can cause CNS diseases such as Parkinsonism and Schizophrenia. Thus, it is essential to develop an accurate and easy to use method for determining the level of DA in biological fluids such as urine and serum as a tool for clinical diagnostics a...
