We show that kaonic nuclei can be produced by the (K, p) and (K, n) reactions. The reactions are shown to have cross sections experimentally measurable. The observation of the kaonic nuclei gives a kaon-nucleus potential which answers the question on the existence of kaon condensation in dense nuclear matter especially neutron stars. We give a progress report of our lattice calculation of direct and indirect CP violation in kaon decays, parametrized as ′/ and BK , which require non-perturbative calculation of the matrix elements of the Standard Model effective Hamiltonian. Calculation of CP Violation in Non-leptonic Kaon Decay on the Lattice J. Noaki for RBC Collaboration
Within the framework of a relativistic transport model (ART) for heavy-ion collisions at AGS energies, we examine the effects of kaon dispersion relation on the transverse flow of kaons and their transverse momentum and azimuthal angle distributions. We find that the transverse flow is the most sensitive observable for studying the kaon dispersion relation in dense medium.
We study the in-medium effects in strangeness production heavy-ion collisions at (sub)threshold energies of (1--2)$A$ GeV based on microscopic Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach. The modifications antikaon $(\overline{K}={K}^{\ensuremath{-}},{\overline{K}}^{0})$ properties are described via self-consistent coupled-channel unitarized scheme a SU(3) chiral Lagrangian which in...
We study the low Q 2 wave-functions of pions and kaons as an expansion in terms of hadron-like Fock state fluctuations. In this formalism, pion and kaon wave-functions are related one another. Consequently, the knowledge of the pion structure allows the determination of parton distributions in kaons. In addition, we show that the intrinsic (low Q 2) sea of pions and kaons are different due to t...
Recent experiments on rare kaon decays are described, with emphasis on the program at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Alternating Gradient Synchrotron. New limits on the modes KL + pe and Kr, -v ee and a preliminary new measurement of the Kr. + pp branching ratio are presented from AGS Experiment 791. Other modes, including K+ + x+p’+e-, K+ + r+ + nothing, and KL -+ r’e+e-, which have been t...
An overview is presented of the talks in the working group on Goldstone Bosons. Topics touched on are CP-violation in the Kaon system, rare Kaon decays, ππscattering, φ-meson decays, scalar mesons, form-factors and polarizabilities, ηdecays, chiral symmetry breaking, connections with QCD at short-distances and effective theories for electroweak physics. We illustrate shortly the motivations to search for CPT violation in kaon decays, then we outline the derivation of the Bell-Steinberger relations. Mostly we focus on determination from the Bell-Steinberger relations of the CPT violating parameters in the kaon system
I summarize the precision tests of the Standard Model in kaon physics which have been reported at this conference.
The main features of coupled-channel K̄N dynamics near threshold and its repercussions in few-body K̄-nuclear systems are briefly reviewed highlighting the I = 1/2 K̄NN system. For heavier nuclei, the extension of mean-field calculations to multi-K̄ nuclear quasibound states is discussed focusing on kaon condensation.
