Advances in modern machine learning techniques has encouraged interest in the development of vehicle health monitoring (VHM) systems. These techniques are useful for the reduction of maintenance and inspection requirements of railway systems. The performance of rail vehicles running on a track is limited by the lateral instability and track irregularities of a railway wagon. In this study, a fo...

Tires are perhaps the most important, but difficult to model, component of an automobile. In addition to supporting the vehicle and damping out road irregularities, the tires provide the longitudinal and lateral forces necessary to change the speed and direction of the vehicle. These forces are produced by the deformation of the tire where it contacts the road during acceleration, braking, and ...

We present a new approach based on Lyapunov analysis to control the PVTOL which can lead to further developments in nonlinear systems. The controller we propose is robust in the sense that it remains stable in spite of small coupling between the rolling moment and the lateral acceleration of the aircraft. The controller performance is shown in a real application. Copyright c ©2005 IFAC.

A robust decoupling control law was derived for active car steering under some mild assumptions. The control law simpliies the steering transfer function from the steering wheel input commanded by the driver to the lateral acceleration at the front axle. In this paper it will be shown that the decoupling is preserved even if nonlinear diierential equations are assumed as a tire model.

Abstract: In recent years deadly earthquakes in seismic areas have caused special concerns regarding liquefaction phenomenon by researchers and specialists. Excess pore water pressure in loose sediments may cause phenomena such as boiling, shearing strength and dynamic stiffness reduction and lateral movements cause difficulties. Many remedial methods such as soil replacement with proper materi...

Objectives: To evaluate the reliability of head and trunk acceleration measured by MTx sensors during walking on Level and Irregular surfaces and to compare the differences between healthy young and old adults. Methods: Participants were 20 young female university students and 20 non-faller elderly women in Iran, 2013. Two MTX sensors were used to measure head and trunk accelerations in the ...

In this work, suspension characterization of a rapid transit vehicle is performed with a multi-body dynamic model that represents full degrees of freedom of a rapid transit vehicle. The effects of lateral suspension properties on passenger ride comfort and stability are investigated by variation of critical suspension parameters using design of experiment method. The critical suspension propert...

Various methods for evaluating ride quality in automobiles are investigated by means of a field study involving two different automobiles, seventy-eight different passengers, and eighteen different roadway sections. Passenger rating panels were used to obtain subjective evaluation of the various rides, and measured vibration spectra were compared on the basis of various evaluation techniques to...

In electric vehicles that use in-wheel motors, the right and left traction forces become unbalanced if a motor malfunctions by motor lock or loss of traction, generating yaw moment. Control methods were designed to reduce this effect by stopping the motor output on the opposite side of the same axle. By using a prototype “Eliica” car, the maximum yaw rate and lateral acceleration were compared ...
