This paper describes the design and implementation of a distributed file repository that supports data sharing in a variable connected environment. Our design is based on the observation that it is difficult to make a clean cut between the various choices for important issues like consistency and concurrency control when the system is designed. Hence, we make it possible for the user to choose ...
In this paper, we present a new computation scheme for pessimistic bilevel optimization problem, which so far does not have any computational methods generally applicable yet. We first develop a tight relaxation and then design a simple scheme to ensure a feasible and optimal solution. Then, we discuss using this scheme to compute linear pessimistic bilevel problem and several variants. We also...
Temperature change in the future, which is very important in terms of agriculture, development and health, can be one of the consequences of climate change and global warming. Knowing how it can be a significant help to the agricultural sector and development issues and managerschr(chr(chr(chr('39')39chr('39'))39chr(chr('39')39chr('39')))39chr(chr(chr('39')39chr('39'))39chr(chr('39')39chr('39')...
In this paper we present performance measurements in a cluster environment. First, we briefly explain our version of optimistic concurrency control and load balance. Then we compare performance and speed-up of a CORBAand an AspectC++-implementation of a distributed object server for pessimistic and optimistic concurrency control.
Gilbert et al. conclude that evidence from the Open Science Collaboration's Reproducibility Project: Psychology indicates high reproducibility, given the study methodology. Their very optimistic assessment is limited by statistical misconceptions and by causal inferences from selectively interpreted, correlational data. Using the Reproducibility Project: Psychology data, both optimistic and pes...
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a method for measuring the relative efficiencies of a set of decision-making units (DMUs) that use multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs. In this paper, we study the measurement of DMU performances in DEA in situations where input and/or output values are given as imprecise data. By imprecise data we mean situations where we only know that the actual val...
Compared to the conventional methods, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are considered to be one of the reliable tools for modeling of complex phenomena such as demand. Aim of this study is to provide a model for gasoline demand in transportation section of Tehran metropolis through multilayered perceptron neural network and using the presented model in analyzing the sensitivity of the model to ...
Although team allegiance is usually associated with optimistic predictions about team performance, the authors hypothesized that preferences for one’s group can also lead to pessimistic predictions. Upon arrival to the laboratory, groups of four participants were split into teams of two based on bogus criteria. Participants were informed that their teammate would compete against a member of the...
