Abstract We present a linear algorithm for self–calibration which, like the Sturm/Triggs method for projective reconstruction, is exact in the limit of small camera motions or sideways motions with rotations around the optical axis. Unlike previous algorithms, our approach recovers the available partial information about the internal parameters for “critical” motion sequences, where full recove...
Volumes of line bundles are known to exist as limits on generically reduced projective schemes. However, it is not if they always more general We show that do a limit codimension one subscheme nonsingular variety.
If P is the projective ind-space, i.e. P is the inductive limit of linear embeddings of complex projective spaces, the Barth-Van de Ven-Tyurin (BVT) Theorem claims that every finite rank vector bundle on P is isomorphic to a direct sum of line bundles. We extend this theorem to general sequences of morphisms between projective spaces by proving that, if there are infinitely many morphisms of de...
Projective techniques are unusual and often intriguing for respondents to complete, permitting them to express thoughts and feelings which can be dif cult to access by direct and structured questioning. This is achieved by presenting respondents with ambiguous verbal or visual stimulus materials, such as bubble cartoons, which they need to make sense of by drawing from their own experiences, t...
This paper examines a newly created approach to exploring travel motivations, the Travel Career Patterns (TCP) model. Through an analysis of the TCP model, the authors advance travel motivation theory by making three contributions: a refinement of the definition of travel experience; the use and evaluation of essays as a qualitative tool for interpreting travel motives; and an extension of the ...
Misattributions people make about their own affective reactions can be used to measure attitudes implicitly. Combining the logic of projective tests with advances in priming research, the affect misattribution procedure (AMP) was sensitive to normatively favorable and unfavorable evaluations (Experiments 1-4), and the misattribution effect was strong at both fast and slow presentation rates (Ex...
Logically, though not historically, projective techniques must be regarded as a part of the general field of psychological measurement. Projective testing and research may therefore legitimately be studied within the theoretical and methodologicall framework of psychological measurement, always keeping in mind, of course, the problems that are peculiar to projective techniques. Largely as a.. r...
In this paper, we introduce the notion of {bf K}-flat projective fuzzy quantales, and give an elementary characterization in terms of a fuzzy binary relation on the fuzzy quantale. Moreover, we prove that {bf K}-flat projective fuzzy quantales are precisely the coalgebras for a certain comonad on the category of fuzzy quantales. Finally, we present two special cases of {bf K} as examples.
The true prosoluble completion PS(Γ) of a group Γ is the inverse limit of the projective system of soluble quotients of Γ. Our purpose is to describe examples and to point out some natural open problems. We discuss a question of Grothendieck for profinite completions and its analogue for true prosoluble and true pronilpotent completions.
