conclusions our study demonstrated that 3d tvs has a good efficacy and reliable agreement with hysteroscopy in diagnosis of uterine lesions among infertile women. therefore, it can decrease the number of diagnostic hysteroscopies. results totally, 153 women were recruited in the investigation. patients aged 30.78 ± 4.79 years in average and the duration of infertility was 4.2 ± 2.91 years among...

Background: Diagnostic ultrasound has been used to detect human disease especially fetus abnormalities in recent decades. Although the harmful effects of diagnostic ultrasound on human have not been established so far, several researchers showed it has had bioeffects in cell lines and in experimental animals. Three-dimensional (3D), four-dimensional (4D), and color Doppler sonography are new te...

Objective: to compare the estimated thyroid volume, as determined by two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography, with real volume. Design: Descriptive Study Animals: A total of 7 mixed breed dogs Procedures: On 2D ultrasound, the thyroid volume is estimated by the ellipsoid equation and on 3D ultrasound; it is estimated by outlining the boundaries of the thyroid lobe in ...

adenomyosis is an idiopathic and benign disease in which ectopic endometrial glands embedded deeply in myometrial smooth muscle with the compensatory hypertrophy of the myometrium surrounding the ectopic endometrium (1, 2). there is a correlation between depth of the infiltration and initial too high stage of adenomyosis. lesions may characterize as a diffuse or focal lesions. the highest preva...

BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound of the shoulder is characterized by a comparable accuracy to two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound. No studies investigating 2D versus 3D inter-rater reliability in the detection of supraspinatus tendon tears taking into account the level of experience of the raters have been carried out so far. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine the inter...

In this paper we present an algorithm to correct 3D reconstruction errors of 3D ultrasound catheter caused by ultrasound image thickness. We also provide a method to quickly measure ultrasound image plane's thickness. With thickness correction registration accuracy of navigation system using 3D ultrasound catheters can be improved by 20%.

AIM To clarify the usefulness of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound in the assessment of the fetal head and brain, according to 3D ultrasound surface reconstruction, multiplanar image analysis, three-dimensional angiography, and volume calculation. METHODS We examined 326 normal fetuses between 10 and 40 weeks of gestation using 3D ultrasound (Voluson, 530D, Medison, Seoul, Korea), mainly with...

BACKGROUND Avoiding damage to blood vessels is often the concern of the neurosurgeon during tumor surgery. Using angiographic image data in neuronavigation may be useful in cases where vascular anatomy is of special interest. Since 2003, we have routinely used 3D ultrasound angiography in tumor surgery, and between January 2003 and May 2005, 62 patients with different tumors have been operated ...

OBJECTIVES To compare the interobserver reliability of antral follicle counts made using real-time two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound with offline counts made from stored three-dimensional (3D) data and to assess the time required for such counts. METHODS Two observers conducted transvaginal ultrasound examinations in 45 subfertile women in the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. Antr...

BACKGROUND Multiple factors create discrepancies between electroanatomic maps and merged, preacquired computed tomographic images used in guiding atrial fibrillation ablation. Therefore, a Carto-based 3D ultrasound image system (Biosense Webster Inc) was validated in an animal model and tested in 15 atrial fibrillation patients. METHODS AND RESULTS Twelve dogs underwent evaluation using a new...
