Nine acetamidochalcones were synthesized and evaluated as antinociceptive agents using the mice writhing test. Given intraperitoneally all the compounds were more effective than the two reference analgesic drugs (acetylsalicylic acid and acetaminophen) used for comparison. N-{4-[(2E)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)prop-2-enoyl]phenyl}acetamide (6) was the most effective compound and was therefore selected fo...

The synthesis and the effect of a combination of 6-glycine and 14-phenylpropoxy substitutions in N-methyl- and N-cycloproplymethylmorphinans on biological activities are described. Binding studies revealed that all new 14-phenylpropoxymorphinans (11-18) displayed high affinity to opioid receptors. Replacement of the 14-methoxy group with a phenylpropoxy group led to an enhancement in affinity t...

there are several reports that adenosine and carbamazepine have pharmacodynamic interaction. i n this study the antinociceptive interaction o f these two agents was evaluated in mice by the hot plate test. agents were injected intraperitoneally. 0.2 and 0.4 mg/kg doses of r-phenylisopropyladenosine (r-pia) substantially showed antinociceptive effects. carbamazepine had antinociceptive actions e...

Rotundifolone, a monoterpene isolated from the essential oil of the leaves of Mentha x villosa, is a constituent of several essential oils and known to have antinociceptive activity. Our recent study demonstrated that the analogues of rotundifolone showed also a significant antinociceptive effect. In the present report, to investigate the correlation between the structure and antinociceptive ac...

In this study, the antinociceptive effects of the gap junction blocker carbenoxolone and morphine were examined using the formalin test as a model of pain. We found that carbenoxolone was dose-dependently antinociceptive in both the first and second phases of the formalin test. Pretreatment with carbenoxolone increased antinociceptive effect of morphine in the first phase of formalin test. Also...

Co-administration of 8 opioid agonists at doses which do not produce measurable antinociception were demonstrafed to produce an increase in the antinociceptive potency of morphine in the mouse tail-flick test. In contrast, co-administration of equi-antinociceptive combinations of a 8 agonist plus morphine for three days resulted in the development of less tolerance to morphine antinociceptive a...

BACKGROUND Although alterations in not only the pain sensitivity but also the analgesic effects of opioids have been reported under conditions of stress, the influence of unpredictable chronic mild stress (UCMS) on the antinociceptive effects of opioid analgesics remains to be fully investigated. The present study examined the influence of UCMS on the thermal pain sensitivity and antinociceptiv...

objective(s):the relationship between tramadol, as an antinociceptive drug, and locus coeruleus (lc), the main noradrenergic nucleus of the brain that affects regulation and modulation of pain through descending noradrenergic pathways was investigated. materials and methods: male sprague-dawley rats were divided into four groups of 10 rats. the rats were fixed in stereotaxic instrument and then...

results all doses of g. vitellinum extract induced anti-nociception activity during the first and second phases of the formalin test. the extract showed a significant (p < 0.05) dose-related inhibition during the first phase compared to the control group. in the second phase of the formalin test, the extract showed analgesic activity comparable to the effect of morphine. in pre-treatment with n...
