Introduction: The choice of optimal radionuclides for radioimmunotherapy depends on several factors, especially the radionuclide and antibody. The dosimetric characteristics of a non-internalizing and an internalizing monoclonal antibody (MAb) labeled with beta emitting radionuclides were investigated. Methods: Using Geant4-DNA Monte Carlo simulation, we ...
Hematologic toxicity limits the radioactivity that may be administered for radiolabeled antibody therapy. This work examines approaches for obtaining biodistribution data and performing dosimetry when the administered antibody is known to bind to a cellular component of blood, bone, or marrow. Marrow dosimetry in this case is more difficult because the kinetics of antibody clearance from the bl...
Engineered nanoparticles (NPs) have been widely demonstrated to induce toxic effects to various cell types. In vitro cell exposure systems have high potential for reliable, high throughput screening of nanoparticle toxicity, allowing focusing on particular pathways while excluding unwanted effects due to other cells or tissue dosimetry. The work presented here involves a detailed biologically b...
The ultimate check of the actual dose delivered to a patient in radiotherapy can only be achieved by using in vivo dosimetry. This work reports a pilot study to test the applicability of a thermoluminescent dosimetric system for performing in vivo entrance dose measurements in external photon beam radiotherapy. The measurements demonstrated the value of thermoluminescent dosimetry as a treatmen...
In this paper, a multiband antenna is proposed for investigating biological effects of microwaves radiation in 2 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.2 GHz bands to simulate exposure during cellular phone or wireless LAN uses. The antenna realizes localized exposure of a rat head in these frequency bands. Numerical dosimetry result shows good localization for 2 week-old rat model.
The internal dosimetry schema of the Medical Internal Radiation Dose (MIRD) Committee of the Society of Nuclear Medicine has provided a broad framework for assessment of the absorbed dose to whole organs, tissue subregions, voxelized tissue structures, and individual cellular compartments for use in both diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine. The schema was originally published in 1968, r...
Organized by Working Group 6 “Computational Dosimetry” of the European Radiation Dosimetry (EURADOS), a group intercomparison exercises was conducted in which participants were asked to solve predefined problems computational dosimetry. The results these comparisons published series articles this virtual special issue Measurements. This paper reviews experience gained from various and highlight...
