Idiomarina zobellii was isolated from the northwest Pacific Ocean at a depth of 4,000 to 5,000 m in 1985. The draft whole-genome shotgun sequence of I. zobellii KMM 231(T) described in this paper has a predicted length of 2,602,160 bp, containing 2,570 total genes, 52 tRNAs, and a G+C content of 47.10%.
Two bacterial strains isolated from the Baltic Sea, OS145T and OS146, were characterized on the basis of their physiological and biochemical features, their fatty acid profiles and their phylogenetic position based on 16S rDNA sequence analyses. The strains were isolated from the upperoxic water column of the central Baltic Sea. Phylogenetic analyses of the 16S rDNA gene sequences revealed a cl...
Idiomarina sp. strain 28-8 is an aerobic, Gram-negative, flagellar bacterium isolated from the bodies of ark shells (Scapharca broughtonii) collected from underwater sediments in Gangjin Bay, South Korea. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of Idiomarina sp. 28-8 (2,971,606 bp, with a G+C content of 46.9%), containing 2,795 putative coding sequences.
Metschnikowia isolates from ponds on Chatham Island, New Zealand, previously erroneously reported as M. zobellii, are described herein as M. bicuspidata var. chathamia var. n.
The production of Mg-rich carbonates by Idiomarina bacteria at modern seawater salinities has been investigated. With this objective, four strains: Idiomarina abyssalis (strain ATCC BAA-312), Idiomarina baltica (strain DSM 15154), Idiomarina loihiensis (strains DSM 15497 and MAH1) were used. The strain I. loihiensis MAH1 is a new isolate, identified in the scope of this work. The four moderatel...
Two Gram-negative strains of heterotrophic, aerobic, marine bacteria, designated PIM1T and PIN1T, were isolated from seawater samples collected from the shallow coastal region of An-Ping Harbour, Tainan, Taiwan. Cells grown in broth cultures were straight rods and non-motile. The two isolates required NaCl for growth and grew optimally at 30-35 degrees C and 2-5 % NaCl. They grew aerobically an...
