Structures consisting of cables and membranes have been of interest to engineers due to their higher ratio of strength to weight and lower cost compared to other structures. One of the challenges in such structures is presence of holes in membranes, which leads to non-uniform stress and strain distributions, even under uniform far-field deformations. One of the approaches suggested for controll...

We have studied the electronic structure of Mn impurities in GaAs by Mn 2p core-level photoemission spectroscopy. From cluster-model analysis assuming the neutral (Mn) or negatively ionized (Mn) ground state, electronic structure parameters have been obtained. In either case, the Mn d electron number is evaluated to be ;5 using the obtained parameters, meaning that the neutral Mn impurity, if i...

In this paper we shall study the phenomenology of a doubly charged and neutral exchange black hole in an (n+ 3) extra-dimensional scenario, where the black hole shall be treated a normal quantum field.

Optical physical properties of neutral and charged quinquethiophene monomer, and neutral and cationic pi-dimeric quinquethiophenes were investigated with density functional theory as well as the two dimensional (2D) site (transition density matrix) and three dimensional (3D) cube (transition density and charge difference density) representations, stimulated by the recent experimental report [T....

Polycrystalline samples of Y1-2xCaxThxBa2Cu3O7-δ (with 0.00 ≤x ≤ 0.075) and NdBa2-xLaxCu3O7-δ (with 0.0≤x≤ 0.30) were prepared by the standard solid state method. The transport and superconducting properties have been studied by the resistivity measurements as a function of temperature and doping concentration. Data of resistivity as a function of temperature was analyzed in terms of the bipola...

In neutral dense electron–hole systems at low temperatures, theory predicted Cooper-pair-like excitons exist the Fermi energy and form a Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer-like condensate. Optical excitations create with density controlled via excitation power. However, intense optical required to achieve high densities cause substantial heating that prevents realization of simultaneously cold in conven...

We conjecture that the neutral black hole pair production is related to the vacuum fluctuation of pure gravity via the Casimir-like energy. A generalization of this process to a multi-black hole pair is considered. Implications on the foam-like structure of spacetime and on the cosmological constant are discussed.

We construct regular and black hole solutions in SU(2) Einstein-Born-Infeld theory. These solutions have many features in common with the corresponding SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills solutions. In particular, sequences of neutral nonabelian solutions tend to magnetically charged limiting solutions, related to embedded abelian solutions. Thermodynamic properties of the black hole solutions are addres...

We present an ab initio study of the stability and defect reactions of neutral and charged H interstitial (H(i)) and H vacancy (H(v)) in KH2PO4 (KDP). We find that while there is no interaction between the neutral H(i) and the host, the addition of an electron leads to the ejection of a H host atom and the subsequent formation of an interstitial H2 molecule and a H(v). In sharp contrast, the ad...
