In this paper we investigate similar triangles which are not congruent but have two pair congruent sides. We show that greatest lower bound of values for similarity ratio of such triangles is golden ratio. For right triangles, we prove that the supremum of values for similarity ratio is the square root of the golden ratio.

Marching triangles is a method for producing a polygon mesh surface approximation composed of triangular facets which are approximately equilateral. This paper improves the Marching Triangles algorithm where the inputs are multiple range images of scenes. C discontinuities (fold edges) are detected and used to constrain the final triangulation, thus increasing the accuracy of the mesh at sharp ...

This paper presents an adaptive method for polygonisation of implicit surfaces. The method is based on the shape of triangles and the accuracy of resulting approximation. The main advantages of the triangulation presented are simplicity and the stable features that can be used for the next expansion. The presented algorithm is based on the surface tracking scheme, and it is compared with other ...

An adaptive method for polygonization of implicit surfaces is presented. The method insists on the shape of triangles and the accuracy of resulting approximation as well. The presented algorithm is based on the surface tracking scheme and it is compared with the other algorithms based on the similar principle, such as the Marching cubes and the Marching triangles methods. The main advantages of...

Automated mesh adaptation is known to be an efficient way control discretization errors in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. It offers the added advantage that user only needs have a minimal expertise generating appropriate meshes, which biggest bottleneck current CFD workflows. For anisotropic, or highly stretched, simplex (triangles 2D and tetrahedra 3D) concept of metric field,...

Motivated by recent theoretical results obtained by the third author for the identification problem arising in single-photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT), we propose an adjoint state method for recovering both the source and the attenuation in the attenuated X-ray transform. Our starting point is the transport-equation characterization of the attenuated X-ray transform, and we apply...

This paper presents an adaptive modification of the Edge spinning method for polygonization of implicit surfaces. The method insists on the shape of triangles and the accuracy of resulting approximation as well. The main advantages of the triangulation presented are simplicity and the stable features that can be used for next expanding. The implementation is not complicated and only the standar...

‎This paper considers a non-local initial-boundary value problem containing a first order partial differential equation with variable coefficients‎. ‎At first‎, ‎the non-self-adjoint spectral problem is derived‎. ‎Then its adjoint problem is calculated‎. ‎After that‎, ‎for the adjoint problem the associated eigenvalues and the subsequent eigenfunctions are determined‎. ‎Finally the convergence ...

Including tracer data into geostatistically based methods of inverse modeling is computationally very costly when all concentration measurements are used and the sensitivities of many observations are calculated by the direct di€erentiation approach. Harvey and Gorelick (Water Resour Res 1995;31(7):1615±26) have suggested the use of the ®rst temporal moment instead of the complete concentration...

Polynomials suffice as finite element basis functions for triangles, parallelograms, and some other elements of little practical importance. Rational basis functions extend the range of allowed elements to the much wider class of well-set algebraic elements, where well-set is a convexity type constraint. The extension field from R(x, y) to R(x, y, √ x2 + y2) removes this quadrilateral constrain...
