Việc gia tăng tỷ lệ Klebsiella pneumoniae kháng carbapenem đang trở thành mối lo của toàn thế giới.1 Các chủng do sinh men carbapenemase hoặc kết hợp với ESBL, AmpC.
A carbapenem-resistant Citrobacter freundii strain WCHCF65 was recovered from hospital sewage and was characterized by genome sequencing and conjugation experiments. The strain carried nine genes encoding β-lactamases including two carbapenemase genes, blaNDM-1 and blaKPC-2. blaNDM-1 was carried on an IncX3 plasmid, which was identical to a plasmid found in a local Escherichia coli, suggesting ...
Carbapenem resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae, frequently conferred by the blaKPC gene, is a major public health threat. We sequenced a blaKPC-containing strain of K. pneumoniae belonging to the emergent lineage ST941, in order to better understand the evolution of blaKPC within this species.
We report here the draft genome sequences of four blaKPC-containing bacteria identified as Klebsiella aerogenes, Citrobacter freundii, and Citrobacter koseri Additionally, we report the draft genome sequence of a K. aerogenes strain that did not contain a blaKPC gene but was isolated from the patient who had the blaKPC-2-containing K. aerogenes strain.
Carbapenemase genes in Enterobacteriaceae are mostly described as being plasmid associated. However, the genetic context of carbapenemase genes is not always confirmed in epidemiological surveys, and the frequency of their chromosomal integration therefore is unknown. A previously sequenced collection of blaKPC-positive Enterobacteriaceae from a single U.S. institution (2007 to 2012; n = 281 is...
Klebsiella pneumoniae, an ESKAPE group (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species) pathogen, has acquired multiple antibiotic resistance genes and is becoming a serious public health threat. Here, we report the genome sequences of two representative strains of K. pneumoniae from the emerging K. p...
Sequence Type 258 (ST258) together with its allelic single- and double-locus variants have mostly been associated with the dissemination of KPC-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in Europe. A total of 56 nonreplicate K. pneumoniae isolates with decreased carbapenem-susceptibility, collected at 7 different hospitals located in Northern Italy were investigated for the occurrence of blaKPC-type genes...
The global emergence of Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae (KPC-Kp) multilocus sequence type ST258 is widely recognized. Less is known about the molecular and epidemiological details of non-ST258 K. pneumoniae in the setting of an outbreak mediated by an endemic plasmid. We describe the interplay of blaKPC plasmids and K. pneumoniae strains and their relationship to the...
Global spread of KPC poses to be a serious threat complicating treatment options in hospital settings. The present study investigates the genetic environment of blaKPC-2 among clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from a tertiary referral hospital of India. The study isolates were collected from different wards and clinics of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, India, from 2012-2013. Th...
The recent widespread emergence of carbapenem resistance in Enterobacteriaceae is a major public health concern, as carbapenems are a therapy of last resort against this family of common bacterial pathogens. Resistance genes can mobilize via various mechanisms, including conjugation and transposition; however, the importance of this mobility in short-term evolution, such as within nosocomial ou...
