In this paper we introduce a sequential block iterative method and its simultaneous version with op-timal combination of weights (instead of convex combination) for solving convex feasibility problems. When the intersection of the given family of convex sets is nonempty, it is shown that any sequencegenerated by the given algorithms converges to a feasible point. Additionally for linear feasibil...

it is well known that if the coefficient matrix in a linear system is large and sparse or sometimes not readily available, then iterative solvers may become the only choice. the block solvers are an attractive class of iterative solvers for solving linear systems with multiple right-hand sides. in general, the block solvers are more suitable for dense systems with preconditioner. in this paper,...

In this paper we extend the polynomial time integration framework to include exponential for both partitioned and unpartitioned initial value problems. We then demonstrate utility o...

We introduce a quasi-Newton method with block updates called Block BFGS. We show that this method, performed with inexact Armijo-Wolfe line searches, converges globally and superlinearly under the same convexity assumptions as BFGS. We also show that Block BFGS is globally convergent to a stationary point when applied to non-convex functions with bounded Hessian, and discuss other modifications...
