BACKGROUND Although obesity and cardiometabolic traits commonly overlap, underlying pathways remain incompletely defined. The association of metabolite profiles across multiple cardiometabolic traits may lend insights into the interaction of obesity and metabolic health. We sought to investigate metabolic signatures of obesity and related cardiometabolic traits in the community using broad-base...

Nafamostat mesilate, an ester drug with extensive hydrolysis in vivo, exhibits species difference in the relative contribution for its hydrolysis in blood and tissues. For the rat, the main hydrolysis site may be blood and human may be tissue (mainly by liver). The paper gave in vivo evidence that human tissue may give more contribution for its hydrolysis. In the initial phase of drug administr...

Salicylamide is metabolized in man by biotransformation to salicylamide glucuronide, salicylamide sulfate, and gentisamide glucuronide. The metabolites are quantitatively and rapidly excreted in urine. Study of the metabolism of this drug in volunteers during episodes of pyrogen-induced fever shows a significant reduction in the half-life (t(1/2)) of the excretion of the drug metabolites. The p...

gamma-Tocotrienol (gamma-T3) is a member of the vitamin E family that displays potent anticancer activity and other therapeutic benefits. The objective of this study was to evaluate gamma-T3 intestinal uptake and metabolism using the in situ rat intestinal perfusion model. Isolated segments of rat jejunum and ileum were perfused with gamma-T3 solution, and measurements were made as a function o...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to test seven previously published image-input methods in state-of-the-art high resolution PET brain images. Images were obtained with a High Resolution Research Tomograph plus a resolution-recovery reconstruction algorithm using two different radioligands with different radiometabolite fractions. Three of the methods required arterial blood samples to scale...

The effects of starvation and subsequent re-feeding on compensatory growth performance, blood serum metabolites and IGF-ImRNA expression in liver and muscle were investigated in juvenile Persian sturgeon. Growth indices including body weight, SGR, CF, and HSI significantly decreased after starvation. However, after re-feeding sturgeons that were starved for 1 week reached the same weight as the...

Background: Clopidogrel is a prodrug that converts in the liver to an active thiol metabolite, which irreversibly inhibits the platelet P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate receptor. It seems that methadone as CYP2C19 inhibitor affects ticlopidine activity in vivo. This study aimed to test the ability of methadone in changing ticlopidine pharmacokinetics. Methods: We conducted a case–control st...

An infant with pancytopenia was born to a mother who used the common immunosuppressant azathioprine (AZA). Maternal and neonatal blood levels of 6-thioguanine nucleotides (6TGN; metabolite of AZA) were 1890 and 1480 pmol/8 × 10(8) red blood cells, respectively. Maternal 6TGN levels could be useful in predicting neonatal pancytopenia.

Fingolimod [(FTY720), Gilenya; 2-amino-2-[2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]-1,3-propanediol], a new drug for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis, acts through its phosphate metabolite, which modulates sphingosine 1-phosphate receptors. This represents a novel mechanism of action. In the present work, the absorption and disposition of (14)C-labeled fingolimod were investigated in healthy male vo...
