Many graphical objects can be represented by swept volumes (including its subset – generalised cylinders) by sweeping 2D or 3D templates along 3D trajectories. In this paper, we present a new approach for constructing swept volumes using image templates. We utilise scalar fields as our underlying data type, and employ volume ray casting techniques for rendering swept volumes in their original s...

introduction: the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of bridge orientation in casting machine on castability and quality of base metal castings. methods: three groups of patterns with different direction and lengths in casting machine were casted and then studied qualitatively and quantitatively using mean and standard deviation in table of frequency. results: larger nodules and poros...

A new opacity correction approach for oversampled volume ray casting is introduced. While the only existing opacity correction method in the literature is based on the assumption of dataset homogeneity, the new opacity correction method introduced in this paper is a faster, generalized voxel-by-voxel approach which does not assume dataset homogeneity. The new opacity correction avoids the datas...

Casting has many process variations depending upon the material, the type of pattern, mould and the pouring technique like sand casting, investment casting, die casting, squeeze casting and lost foam casting. Sand casting is the most widely used process which can be used to produce intricate parts in almost every metal that can be melted. Casting defects analysis is process of finding the root ...

The mold-filling behavior in the casting of aluminum alloy (A413) using lost foam casting (LFC) was explored. The effects of gate numbers, type of gating and casting thickness on the filling behavior were evaluated. Although, unlike convectional casting process, the gating system showed little effect onfilling ability, casting thickness created a greater effect on the mold filling. In contrast ...

The effect of casting pores on the very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) behavior of a directionally solidified (DS) Ni-base superalloy DZ4 is investigated. Casting and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) specimens were subjected to very high cycle fatigue loading in an ambient atmosphere. The results demonstrated that the continuously descending S-N curves were exhibited for both the casting and HIP specime...

The article presents pr ocess application of the rapi d prototyping (RP) for manufacturing of blades of aircraft turbine in monocrystallization and also directional crystallization of casting process. It is describing the method of modelling of the chosen elements of casting model kit with the usage of RP and RT system s. The article presents the analysis of additive rapid prototyping methods (...

A hierarchical decomposition of a simple polygon is introduced. The hierarchy has depth O(log n), linear size, and its regions have at most three neighbors. Using this hierarchy, circular ray shooting queries in a simple polygon can be answered in O(log n) query time and O(n log n) space. If the radius of the circle is xed, the query time can be improved to O(log n) and the space to O(n).

This work provides approaches to designing and fabricating soft fluidic elastomer robots. That is, three viable actuator morphologies composed entirely from soft silicone rubber are explored, and these morphologies are differentiated by their internal channel structure, namely, ribbed, cylindrical, and pleated. Additionally, three distinct casting-based fabrication processes are explored: lamin...
