Background and Objective: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a clonal proliferation of immature myeloid progenitors in the bone marrow. Multiple genetic and environmental factors have been reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of AML. Cytochromes, such as cytochrome P450 are among detoxifying enzymes whose aberrant expression can make individuals susceptible to a variety of cancers and leuke...

Highly miniaturized P450 screening assays designed to enable facile analysis of P450 drug interactions in a 1536-well plate format with the principal human cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP3A4, 2D6, 2C9, 2C19, and 1A2) and Vivid fluorogenic substrates were developed. The detailed characterization of the assays included stability, homogeneity, and reproducibility of the recombinant P450 enzymes and t...

Correction In our article (Sirim et al. BMC Struct Biol 2010, 10: 34) [1] the cytochrome P450 monooxygenase P450cam was referred to as CYP101D. In the latest release 3.0 of our cytochrome P450 database CYPED (www.CYPED.uni-stuttgart.de) P450cam was reassigned to family CYP101A and referred to as CYP101A1.

The aim of this study was to investigate the sub-lethal effects Lead Chloride (PbCl2) on blood indices, liver enzymes, cytochrome P450 gene expression in common carp. For this purpose, Fish with a mean weight of 7 33±0.33 g were prepared and divided into 3 treatments and a control group and exposed to effective concentrations (0.05, 0.15, 0.25 mg / l) of sublethal toxicity for a period of 14 da...

Squalene monooxygenase is a microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of squalene to 2,3(s)-oxidosqualene, the immediate precursor to lanosterol in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway. Unlike other flavoprotein monooxygenases that obtain electrons directly from NAD(P)H, squalene monooxygenase requires a redox partner, and for many years it has been assumed that NADPH-cytochrome P450 redu...

Microsomal fractions were prepared from the liver of rabbits to investigate the effects of paraquat (methyl viologen) on generation of metabolites of halothane under the optimal aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Halothane (CF3CHClBr) is known to undergo oxidative and reductive biotransformation in the hepatic mixed function oxidase system including cytochrome-P450 reductase and cytochrome P450....

Biosynthesis of retinoic acid from retinaldehyde (retinal) is catalysed by an aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) and its oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs). Herein we show by phylogenetic analysis that the ALDHs and CYPs in the retinoic acid pathway in animals are much closer in evolutionary terms to cyanobacterial orthologs than would be expected from the standard models of evolution.

Cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) is the most abundant CYP450 enzyme in the liver and is involved in the metabolism of over 50% of xenobiotics. Our previous studies revealed that 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE47) could induce rat CYP3A1 expression, but the molecular basis remains unclear. Using in silico analysis, we identified a potential miR-23b recognition element (MRE23b) in the 3'-UTR re...
