Using DC-Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition (PECVD) system, the impact of pure Co onthe growth of diamond-like carbon (DLC) nano-structures were investigated. In this study, Acetylene(C2H2) was diluted in H2 and used as the reaction gas and Cobalt (Co) nano-particles were used asthe catalyst. The effect of preparing Co catalyst at temperatures of 240°C and 350°C and growthconditions was...

This study, investigates the effect of bias voltage on structural changes of diamond-like carbon thin film created by ion beam deposition is investigated. For this purpose, the bias voltage in the values of 0 V, -50 V, -100 V and -150 V on the AA5083 aluminum alloy was considered. Raman spectroscopy was used to evaluate structural. Influence of the bias voltage on the thickness and roughness of...

By using cathodic plasma electrolysis, a thin film of diamond-like carbon and carbyne was produced on the  nickel surface. The ethanolic solution at different concentrations of 15, 30 and 50 vol% was used as the  electrolyte; the  produced carbon film was studied by using glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, optical profilometer,  and s...

The paper presents preliminary results of a study about the possibility to determine the thermoelastic properties of diamond-like carbon films by means of a photothermal deflection technique. The technique allows to perform measurements as a function of temperature in the range 10-300 K The results are in qualitative agreement with theoretical predicitons.

The role of compressive stress in producing sp bonding in diamond-like carbon is of interest both technologically and 3 scientifically. Stress limits the maximum thickness of adherent films, and it is desired to produce much thicker films for protective coatings and for making micro-electromechanical systems. Stress is important theoretically, because it is often linked to the deposition proces...
