It is shown that rifampicin, and especially the related antibiotic 2',6'-dimethyl-N(4')-benzyl-N(4')- [desmethyl]rifampicin (DMB-rifampicin) can inhibit focus formation by Moloney sarcoma virus on BALB/3T3 tissue cultures. At 10 mug/ml DMB-rifampicin totally inhibits focus formation while reducing virus replication by at least a factor of fifty and cell proliferation by only a factor of three. ...

Cellular phone users in Korea can watch TV using their mobile phones. The new multimedia service for the mobile users is called Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB). DMB is a process of broadcasting multimedia over the Internet or satellite that can be tuned in by multimedia receivers or players. There are two competing DMB technology standards in South Korea: Terrestrial DMB and Satellite DMB...

Excited-state properties of fac-[Re(dmb)(CO)(3)(CH(3)CN)]PF(6), [Re(dmb)(CO)(3)](2) (where dmb = 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine), and other tricarbonyl rhenium(I) complexes were investigated by transient FTIR and UV-vis spectroscopy in CH(3)CN or THF. The one-electron reduced monomer, Re(dmb)(CO)(3)S (S = CH(3)CN or THF), can be prepared either by reductive quenching of the excited states of fac...

The antihyperglycemic drug dimethylbiguanide (DMB, also known as metformin) reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications in type 2 diabetes, although the mechanism(s) involved are unclear. DMB reduces glycosylation-related protein cross-linking, a process similar to fibrin cross-linking catalyzed by activated factor XIII (FXIII). To investigate whether the cardioprotective effect of DMB cou...

This paper presents the method of emergency warning system operation based on T -DMB and th e design of T-DMB AEAS(Automatic Emergency Alert Service) receiver model. The proposed receiver model compares the geographical location of emergency with the location of DMB transmitting station from TDMB broadcasting signal and classifies the receiver location into alert region, neighboring region and ...

We report UV photodissociation (UVPD) and IR-UV double-resonance spectra of 1,2-dimethoxybenzene (DMB) complexes with alkali metal ions, M(+)·DMB (M = Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs), in a cold, 22-pole ion trap. The UVPD spectrum of the Li(+) complex shows a strong origin band. For the K(+)·DMB, Rb(+)·DMB, and Cs(+)·DMB complexes, the origin band is very weak and low-frequency progressions are much mor...

Diabetes is a major risk factor for the development of stroke. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists have been in clinical use for the treatment of diabetes and also been reported to be neuroprotective in ischemic stroke. The quinoxaline 6,7-dichloro-2-methylsulfonyl-3-N-tert- butylaminoquinoxaline (DMB) is an agonist and allosteric modulator of the GLP-1R with the potential to inc...

The cob operon of Salmonella typhimurium includes 20 genes devoted to the synthesis of adenosyl-cobalamin (coenzyme B12). Mutants with lesions in the promoter-distal end of the operon synthesize vitamin B12 only if provided with 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole (DMB), the lower ligand of vitamin B12. In the hope of identifying a gene(s) involved in synthesis of DMB, the DNA base sequence of the end of...

We examined the uptake and intracellular transport of the fluorescent glucosylceramide analogue N-[5-(5,7-dimethyl BODIPYTM)-1-pentanoyl]-glucosyl sphingosine (C5-DMB-GlcCer) in human skin fibroblasts, and we compared its behavior to that of the corresponding fluorescent analogues of sphingomyelin, galactosylceramide, and lactosylceramide. All four fluorescent analogues were readily transferred...

This paper briefly introduces the T-DMB standard based on Eureka-147 DAB and presents a new T-DMB transmission system, which uses a device called the Ensemble Remultiplexer, for mobile multimedia broadcasting service. And we verify the T-DMB standard by using the new transmission system with commercial equipment in the laboratory and in the field as moving on a car in high speed around urban di...
