Computer-based advisory systems form with their users composite, human-machine systems. Redundancy and diversity between the human and the machine are often important for the dependability of such systems. We describe a case study on assessing failure probabilities for the analysis of X-ray films for detecting cancer, performed by a person assisted by a computerbased tool. Differently from most...

Steam-induced vibration is a kind of self-excited vibration which is one of the most important issues affecting the operation reliability of steam turbines. A lot of actual cases of steam-induced vibration of steam turbine were collected in this work. And steam-induced vibration fault was statistical and classified by fault reason, happened time, occurrence load and fault severity. The statisti...

A methodology for the development of PM using the modern approaches of FMEA, root-cause analysis, and fault-tree analysis is presented. Applying PM leads to a cost reduction in maintenance and less overall energy expenditure. Implementation of PM is preferable to the present reactive maintenance procedures (still prevalent in Nigeria). 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

abstract this study evaluated and compared medical terminology and english for the students of medicine (ii) as two representatives of the textbooks available on the iranian market for teaching english to the students of medicine. this research was performed on the basis of a teacher’s and a number of students’ attitudes and the students’ needs analysis for two reasons: first, to investigate...

Planning budget will help to identify wasteful expenditures, adapt financial situation changes quickly, and achieve financial goals. The reliability based budgeting has a great importance for broadcasting industry. In this study, several kinds of failure modes in TV broadcasting system have been det...

This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...

I. Introduction The reasons for improving the analog and mixed-signal test program set design and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) process are well documented [1-7]. For instance, identification of chronic production faults, improved safety and reliability through the analysis of difficult to test failure modes, investigation of circuit failure mechanisms, and excessive part stress could al...

Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) has been extensively used for examining potential failures in products, processes, designs and services. An important issue of FMEA is the determination of risk priorities of the failure modes that have been identified. The traditional FMEA determines the risk priorities of failure modes using the so-called risk priority numbers (RPNs), which require the...

In the development of safety-critical systems, it is important to perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) identify potential failures. However, traditional FMEA activities tend be considered difficult time-consuming tasks. To compensate for difficulty task, various types tools are used increase quality effectiveness reports. This paper explains an automatic tool that integrates model-...
