Evidence of ferroelasticity in a non-planar organic molecular crystal is presented for 4,4'-dicarboxydiphenyl ether. Ferroelasticity has been demonstrated by the micro- and macroscopic mechanical characterization of single crystals, including recording of a full hysteretic stress-strain cycle.
