Current HMD applications are hampered by the limitations of head-tracking technologies now in use. Commercially available magnetic, optical, acoustic, and mechanical head-trackers suffer from various problems such as vulnerability to interference, line-of-sight restrictions, jitter, latency, small range, and high cost. This paper presents inertial-sensor-based hybrid tracking technology that wa...

Abstract We investigate the dynamics of bodies with vector-type microstructure. consider linear constitutive relations and a nonlinear coupling between macroscopic microscopic motions, determined by gyroscopic-type inertia. Based on an existence result obtained in presence viscous-type stress components, we determine global attractor; its weak nature derives from lack uniqueness coupling.

INTRODUCTION Two (2) quantum theoretically based metaphor/models have been proposed recently to describe the therapeutic process in homeopathy in terms of (1) a representation of the vital force (Vf) as a spinning quantized gyroscope, describable as a wave function; and (2) a form of nonorthodox quantum theoretical entanglement (called PPR entanglement) between the patient, practitioner, and re...

In one of the most remarkable feats of motor control in the animal world, some Diptera, such as the housefly, can accurately execute corrective flight maneuvers in tens of milliseconds. These reflexive movements are achieved by the halteres, gyroscopic force sensors, in conjunction with rapidly tunable wing steering muscles. Specifically, the mechanosensory campaniform sensilla located at the b...

In this paper, a nonlinear control law is proposed for the curved ball and beam system with the ball at the upright position. The stabilization of such a system is challenging, as compared to conventional ball and (straight) beam system, due to the presence of two unstable equilibrium points and the gyroscopic forces appearing in its dynamics. Further, the system belongs to the interesting clas...

The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...

Discrete model of piezoelectric controlled beams, subjected to follower forces, are studied in this paper. The failure of a similar controller in improving stability properties of the beam is also discussed, this being in contrast with the common practice in the use of piezoelectric devices for which similarity is requested in order to maximize the energy exchange between structure and controll...

Inertially stabilized platforms are subject of interest for different application, e.g. telecommunications, robotics and military systems. In this paper the objective is to maintain the line-of-sight constant despite the motion of a host vehicle. The platform stabilization problem is addressed using dual-axis gyroscopic sensors, where certain vehicle dynamic constraints are considered. Sensor p...
