Background & Aims: The hashimoto thyroiditis as a common autoimmune thyroid disease have a multifactorial etiology. Vitamin D status and vitamin D receptor gene BsmI polymorphism are involved in hashimoto developing. The aim of this research was to study the association between 25hydroxy vitamin D serum levels and BsmI polymorphism with hashimoto. Materials & Methods: We conducted a case-contr...
autoimmune thyroid diseases (atd) are multifactorial conditions that result from genetic predisposition in combination with environmental risk factors. helicobacter pylori infection as an environmental risk factor has been proposed to imitate the antigenic components of the thyroid cell membrane and may play a leading role in the onset of the autoimmune diseases, such as hashimoto thyroiditis. ...
OBJECTIVES Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), a 80-110 kD glycoprotein, has been found to be a ligand for the lymphocyte function associated antigen-1 (LFA-1) molecule and has important roles in inflammatory and immune mediated mechanisms. ICAM-1 is expressed on thyroid follicular cells of patients with Hashimoto disease and cultured thyroid monolayer cells derived from the thyroid sur...

The authors describe two patients with thyroid lymphoma and Hashimoto thyroiditis; T1- and T2-weighted MR sequences were used. In one patient, the region of lymphoma showed a different signal intensity on T2 images; in the other patient, the signal level was identical to the Hashimoto disease. In sum, the processes could not be significantly differentiated using MR.
Low triiodothyronine syndrome is a physiological adaptation encountered in anorexia nervosa (AN) and generally improves with sufficient weight gain. However, when a primary thyroid pathology accompanies AN, both the evaluation of thyroid hormone levels and the management of the co-morbid disease become more challenging. Hashimoto thyroiditis could complicate the management of AN by causing hype...
