The authors propose a new synonym between Collaria scenica (senior synonym) and Collaria columbiensis (junior synonym) based on external morphology and genitalia characteristics of male and female adults of both species. Mesothoracic wings have been examined and compared in 32 species representing 20 genera of Afrotropical Scutelleridae. Morphological characters of the corium are described. Three main types of mesothoracic wing venation patterns can be recognized. The taxonomic significance of forewing characters in Scutelleridae is briefly discussed.

Scoloposcelis seidaii sp. nov. is described from the Malay Peninsula based on a single specimen collected under the bark of a decaying tree. This discovery represents the first distribution record of the genus Scoloposcelis from Malaysia.
