Hybrid single crystals consisting of an organic surfactant and an inorganic moiety are promising functional materials. Layered crystals composed from alternate inorganic and surfactant layers are obtained by the template effect of long alkyl chain moiety. The composition, crystal packing, and molecular arrangement of the hybrid single crystals are controllable by changing the inorganic constitu...

Earlier reports indicated the presence of significant amounts of inorganic salts in the nucleus. In the present study the possibility that this might be related to the transcription process was tested on seminiferous epithelium of the adult mouse, using potassium pyroantimonate as a fixative. The results indicated that a correlation exists between the inorganic cations comprising the pyroantimo...

Abstract Inorganic two-dimensional membranes offer a new approach to modulating mass transport at the nanoscale. These membranes, which can harness van der Waals gap as nanochannel and address persistent challenges in organic are limited few material libraries, such graphene, graphene oxide, molybdenum disulfide, boron nitride. Here we report for first time development of cation-selective layer...

The field of actinide chemistry is still young, not least because the radioactivity of these elements makes them difficult to work with. A study now reveals details of how actinide compounds might behave in water.

In this study, ion exchange nanocomposite membranes was prepared by addition of Mg(OH)2 nanoparticles to a blend containing sulfonated polyphenylene oxide and sulfonated polyvinylchloride via a simple casting method. Magnesium hydroxide nanoparticles were synthesized via a facile sono-chemical reaction and were selected as filler additive in fabrication of ion exchange nanocomposite membranes. ...

Microorganisms that adapt to moderate and high salt environments use a variety of solutes, organic and inorganic, to counter external osmotic pressure. The organic solutes can be zwitterionic, noncharged, or anionic (along with an inorganic cation such as K(+)). The range of solutes, their diverse biosynthetic pathways, and physical properties of the solutes that effect molecular stability are ...

In the title organic-inorganic hybrid salt, (C(11)H(20)N(9))[CdCl(5)]·H(2)O, the crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the organic cation, the complex inorganic anion and the uncoordinated water molecule, forming a three-dimensional network.

The asymmetric unit of the title inorganic-organic hybrid compound, (C10H16N2O)[CoCl4]·H2O, consists of a tetrahedral [CoCl4](2-) anion, together with a [C10H18N2O](2+) cation and a water mol-ecule. Crystal cohesion is achieved through N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between organic cations, inorganic anions and the water mol-ecules, building up a three-dimensional network.

The ability of natural clinoptilolite and its modified forms were studied for removal of PAHs from n-paraffin. Surfactant modified zeolite (SMZ) was obtained by modifying clinoptilolite with hexadecyltrimethylammonium ion. Homoionic forms of zeolite were obtained by ion exchange process using inorganic salts of desirable cations (e.g. Ag+, Fe3+…). Nat...
