Complexation of the bridging bidentate ligand N,N'-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)dinicotinamide, L with palladium(II) resulted in a single discrete M(2)L(4) self-assembly, 1, in a quantitative manner. The entropically-controlled assembly of 1 resulted in a rare saturated, quadruple-stranded metallo-helicate, in which both the left-handed (M) and right-handed (P) helicates exist in the crystal structure.

Introduction: Carbapenems are one of the latest drugs for treatment of threatening infections of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Resistance to these antibiotics is sometimes caused by carbapnmase class B, such as VIM metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) that is growing in the communities. The aim of this study was to detect the of metallo-beta-lactamase blaVIM-1 gene among clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeru...

The production of metallo-β-lactamases is the most important strategy by which pathogenic bacteria become resistant to currently known β-lactam antibiotics. The emergence of these enzymes is particularly concerning for the future treatment of bacterial infections. There are no clinically available drugs capable of inhibiting any of the metallo-β-lactamases, so there is an urgent need to find su...

(Humic/Fulvic Acid) has the capability of transferring metals to and from metallo-proteins in vivo. These proteins play a role in metal storage and sequester excess metal ions, preventing toxicity. Metallo-protein concentrations are the highest in the liver where metals accumulate in the metallo-thionein portions of this organ. Metallo-proteins can be found in many other human tissues, includin...

b ackground : the emergence and rapid spread of metallo-beta-lactamase (mbl) producing acinetobacter spp. are of great concern worldwide due to limited treatment options. epidemiologic studies of the causing genes are important for prevention. methods :   in  this  study,  70  imipenem-resistant  acinetobacter  strains  were isolated from health care associated infections. these isolates were s...

Objective. To determine whether the genes whose products are annotated as «MBL-fold metallohydrolase superfamily» related to proteins of metallo-β-lactamase group. Materials and Methods. Sequences 7 were analyzed using following resources: ClustalW, IQ-TREE, iTOL. Selection oligonucleotides for real-time PCR was performed Primer-BLAST resource. The level gene expression assessed PCR. BACKGROUND Metallo-β-lactamases are bacterial enzymes that provide resistance to carbapenems, the most potent class of antibiotics. These enzymes are commonly encoded on mobile genetic elements, which, together with their broad substrate spectrum and lack of clinically useful inhibitors, make them a particularly problematic class of antibiotic resistance determinants. We hypothesized that there...

Bleomycins are a family of glycopeptide antibiotics that have the ability to bind and degrade DNA when bound to key metal ions, which is believed to be responsible for their antitumor activity. Knowledge of the structures of metallo-bleomycins is vital to further characterize their mechanism of action. To this end, numerous structural studies on metallo-bleomycins have been conducted. NMR spect...

Metallo-β-lactamase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MPPA) is an important nosocomial pathogen that shows resistance to all β-lactam antibiotics except monobactams. There are various types of metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) in carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa including Imipenemase (IMP), Verona integron-encoded metallo-β-lactamase (VIM), Sao Paulo metallo-β-lactamase (SPM), Germany imipenemase (...
